Only on a running forum can a former elite runner name his kid after one of the greatest runners of all time, and yet everyone here complains about it and calls it “cringe.” Runners are so lame lol
Naming your child after another man who isn't your father or grandfather is extremely cringe, I don't care who it is.
Very honorable of him. I am naming all of my kids after emotions, not people. As of now I have 3 yr old son Bravery, and I plan to have 2 more biological children (whatever gender god gives me is fine with me, we have no say in it) and I plan of naming them Pain and Pride.

You described every man not named after their father or grandfather.

Yes, exactly this. Pulling a name from pop culture, which is essentially what this is, is clownish. Not far off from everyone who named their kid Madison or Taylor 30ish years ago.
In his defense, I haven't seen evidence that AW has ever had a single creative thought. Remembering how he raced on the world stage, he seems to be markedly impulsive and easily distracted.

Haha. Yeah, I can’t understand the problem these posters have with the name, and the nested quote is ridiculous. Eliud is a cool name and not weird (foreign) enough to give the kid a rough time. Much better than naming your kid Aiden/Jaden/Kaden/Trayton because everyone else was doing it, like seemed to happen 15-20 years ago.
I was named after Andy Griffith/Sheriff Andy Taylor, because my mom loved Andy Griffith. Did that make my dad a fairy or a cucck? Barely!
The father may have a passion for running but the kid doesn't, kid doesn't give a f about running and if you ask the kid hey do you wanna be named after this person they most likely will say nah thanks. It's lame like naming your kid Link because you like Zelda games.

You have to name your kid after someone - parent, family member, ancestor, celebrity, friend, etc. Unless you just make up a game and how is that any better?
