I asked this question over a year ago. But no legal challenges happened. Strange that. All Will asked was for transparency, that's fair.

Clearly Will Goodge is a fake trans runner. He just identifies as one.

So Goodge's tracker says 89 miles and his Strava says 69. One day in and it’s already a clown show.

12.45 will has posted two 75kmh stats successive.

Presumably he is driving to a hotel and has left his tracker on?

Hi all, herewith my report of a fascinating day 1.

1) First, hats off to WG, clearly a good strong piece of multiday running.

2) Vitally, the HR is perfect, not a K out of place. Keep it there please. No reason at all for that 132, with the occasional dalliance at 145, to suddenly collapse to 105s. His HR for day 1 of Transcon was also 132.

3) He has taken 11k out of CT but actually only 8 due to a slightly longer route.

4) He has paid a dear price for those 8k of nearly 4 more hours out in the field. A quite brutal tariff.

5) These are their 20k comparisons:

The differential has risen to an alarming 17 minutes by the end, but it's also crucial to note that CT only required a pulse of 121, and 50 minutes of rest, compared to WGs 1:50 [and pulse 11bpm higher].

So, in summary, good solid stuff, but we always know what CT has in store. And in this case it is 105k in 11:53. He has required another 2 hours for the day [and run only 4 more kms.] His pace is quicker on day 2 than WGs on day 1.

Let's see what gives.

the tracker is not going to be half as accurate as the Strava/watch data. The Garmin Inreach 2 sends a signal if it has a clear view of the sky every few minutes (not instantaneously). It's more of "this is where he last was in real time" - not the official event mileage, by any stretch

Comparing heart rate data between two runners - even in the same event - is pointless. Heart rate is wildly individual, influenced by genetics, training background, hydration, sleep, stress, temperature—you name it WC. It’s not a performance metric, it’s a response. Layer on the fact that wrist-based heart rate monitors are notoriously inaccurate during exercise, and the whole comparison collapses. A JAMA Cardiology study (Wang et al., 2017) found that even the best consumer devices had significant error rates, especially under load. So unless both runners were wearing ECG machines in a lab, at the same time, under identical conditions, your comparison isn’t just apples to oranges—it’s apples to imaginary fruit.

Circumstantial at best. You’re grasping at straws.

the wang study is odd. i only have a summary. it used 50 people and each tested 2 out of 4 devices.

the problem is that the differences are reported as medians which suggests consistantcy. and then they talk about maximum differences - spread.

now we all know that there will be obvious dropouts and glitches on hrm, so 5% max weird reading rate is kinda given.

and one device overread by nine and another underead by 6, other two unstated presumably less.

so, ignore dropouts and patterns will be obvious. a bit like will says.

so unless you have access to the full document and can give better info, i would say the wang paper supports willvic.

Who even is Eleni Tsingas? I can't find any info that indicates she has any background in ultra distances. Zero race results and her Strava seems to have been created only recently for this WR 'attempt'. She didn't even come close to the target mileage in the first day. The whole thing is really weird.

She is somebody who is trying to launch a career as an influencer by claiming she is going go beat a Yiannis Kouros world record. She was also previously a Miss Phillipino Australian finalist.

It seems like she has never ran an ultramarathon of any kind before. But she has competed in Hyrox before, so she must be tough! 😄

yes, looks like he drove to a nearby rest area last night nd then drove back again this morning, both with the tracker on. its a little difficult due to lag and dunplication in the tracker.

but how does he measure his mileage if he leaves his tracker on when he has stopped for the day, and starts it before he starts running?

I guess the tracker is simply to denote his position and mileage still measured by garmin and strava

A brief day 2 report. More good battling stuff. In a nutshell:

CT 206K in 21 hrs
WG 222k in 28hrs

So he's in the lead, but a heavy price of 7 extra hours in the field.

Some wild 20k splits now being proffered, with CT going from 60 to 100 in 2:00 & 2:04 and WG in 2:29 and 2:37.

CT now has several troublesome days incoming, so WG could be some 120k ahead after a week. But thereafter no more problems for CT, as he locked right onto some fearsome stuff.

Pulse is fine and rock steady, no issues. I never minded 9 minute Ks at 107, I minded days of 5-7 minute Ks at 105.

Onwards! A fine sporting contest.

This is a quick insight into why the Transcon run was so problematic.

On day 2 here he has done miles 50-60 in 2:05 off a pulse of 117

At Transcon on day 39 he did 50-60 in 1:43 off a pulse of 112

Of the 16kms, he broke 6:50 13 times at Transcon, but only once in Aus.

And at Transcon he went as low as climbing Ks in 5:37 and 5:55

he has driven ahead to his stop again....
