She was not rocking any spikes, but she's got some super shoes on. Good thing this is just a high school race and not the NCAA or an open meet. I think it would be a DQ.
Seriously, it was a let down for me. After reading about her recent workouts I thought she was going to run under 9:30. Sounds crazy, but I think she is that fit right now.
I hope she takes one more shot at it.
You are correct. I was there and Jane herself thought she would go much faster than 9:34 after running a 9:37 for a 3200 a) indoors, b) at altitude and c) on a wooden track.
Major props to her. She just goes out without fear and hammers it. Has done it time and again. Contrast her with the boys in the 3200. "Lead, no, you lead. Who cares, let's just kick.it in the last lap."
The fact that she's got no competition makes it easier for her to just attempt a run away than if there were 4-5 other girls equal to her were in the race.

No, she was working out there. She ran even splits, couldn’t accelerate during the last lap and I think she reached her limit. 9:34 is an outstanding time and no projection of running even faster is necessary.
Hedengren has run Sadie Engelhardt right off the track and out of the limelight. Jane is the more talented of the two, in my opinion. I'm thinking that Engelhardt is intimidated and feels dominated, so she won't show up and race Hedengren. Ventura is not that far from Arcadia, and Engelhardt wasn't there. Hedengren flew in from Utah. So at this point there's only only one clear alpha distance runner.

So cool to see. She's in great shape. Always cool when epic records fall.
Judging from her Simplot performance I'm a little surprised it wasn't faster. She ran a 9:37 indoor 3200 in Idaho. At 4500 feet. The simplot track is made of wood and is significantly slower than quality rubber tracks(indoor or outdoor). She was also lapping runners at Simplot much earlier due to the lower competition and shorter track.
It's got to be such a mental battle running a record solo like that. Super impressive performance either way.
Looking forward to seeing what she can do at Bryan Clay with others around to pull her along.

Sadie was there signing autographs and watching.
With a broken foot. Her coach got too greedy and her season is over.
Funny that you pointed this out. After seeing her run, I was thinking she actually has more to go and wouldn’t be like some of the others on your list.

your opinion? wow, really going out on a limb there, eh?

So many things wrong in just one post.
Sadie Engelhardt is the second fastest miler of all time, she set the mile record in 2025, and she was in last year's Olympic Trials. She is far from being "out of the limelight."
Sadie couldn't run at Arcadia even if she wanted to because she doesn't run for her high school.
And even if Sadie had been allowed to run at Arcadia she would have run the mile, not the 2 mile.
Sadie was in fact in attendance at Arcadia last night.

9:34 was the best she could do last night. But based on her recent 9:37 at altitude indoors on a wooden track, she certainly is capable of running faster than 9:34.
That indoor 15:13 (equiv to a 9:27 two mile) was largely due to Rylee Blade's help. Sub-9:30 was not going to happen without some help for Jane. She'll need to jump into professional races to go faster at this point.
