Everyone goes down weird rabbit holes late at night but anyone with sense is not posting it to their literal business public forum under their own name.

Well I am not sure what you are implying here, and what your understanding of this website is, but I view it as more entertainment than hard news, especially the message board, and how different is this from a talk show host exploring some topic of which he might have scarce information, but he wants to provoke discussion and even trigger speculation, especially when the subject of the thread is one of the most renowned figures in the history of the sport which the website covers? And yes I write long sentences sometimes.
The "leaked" audio sounds like AI. That is nothing like his usual cadence when he talks.
Coe would have to answer the Epstein issue. Not a good thing for him to have logged that many flights to the Island. Of course, he is on a very long list with a lot of others who have been able to shrug off the association.
Given Coventry won and some of the sources, it looks like some Africans wanted to keep Coe out.
You skimmed over the main point. I HAVE SEEN ZERO EVIDENCE HE VISITED EPSTEIN ISLAND. The smear campaign said he did.
I understand why The Athletic might think they shouldn't mention who the smear campaign was against or not want to mention the bs allegations but ultimately I think that is pointless when they are widespread on the internet and the acknowledge that is what everyone is talking about at the IOC meeting, "the allegations became grist for gossip at the I.O.C. gathering."
So I think it would be much better to say "a smear campaign was unleashed vs Seb Coe with false allegations he visited Epstein Island 11 times, and doctored audio portraying him as a racist." The campaign is pretty sick, but I guess you don't know who unleashed it but it's out there and people are seeing it.

But upon reading it, no… there seems to be something fishy. If he indeed never went to Epstein’s island, and the audio is fake, then something in the milk ain’t clean.

Like some of the other posters I'm not sure what your criticism is about. I didn't start these allegations. They are out there and millions of people have already seen them. If no one had seen them then I wouldn't have started this thread.
But let's say I run for office. Someone comes out with fake news saying I'm a pedophile and a racist with fake news reports and audio to "prove it". You'd have a problem with someone starting a thread on it? I wouldn't.
Sadly, with the advances in AI this stuff is going to be commonplace going forward.

Smear campaigns are a fixture of political races and this website has done nothing to cut down on those. So, this post by a founder reeks of hypocrisy. However, I distinguish between Rojo, a moderator, and Wejo. Whereas the moderator permits these things but extinguishes anything pro-democratic as a thread and Rojo frequently advocates right wing conspiracy theories with zero evidence, Wejo, in my recollection, tends to be reasonable and fact-based. Here he looked further into allegations in the Athletic/NY Times and identified false and damaging claims against Coe, who has created a lot of enemies as IAAF head, having taken over from an absolutely corrupt Lamine Diack and his son, Papa, who were literally caught extorting major athletes such as the Turkish gold medalist in the women's 1500m in 2012 over their positive drug tests. Coe has cracked down on the absolutely rampant doping in East and North Africa and Eastern Europe, as well as the domination of the women's 800m by African DSD athletes. While he's not perfect with his ties to Nike, his last minute awarding of World's to Eugene, which was a disaster, and his failure to control super shoes, probably connected to his Nike stake as a long-time employee, he has a lot of enemies out there.
Good work from Wejo, and pretty disturbing to see the doping apologist bots attacking you for it. Then again, you and your brother have allowed these bots free reign here for years.
I imagine it's either Kenyans or Russians, or somebody paid by one of Coe's rivals in the race. In any case, it definitely needs investigating by the IOC, and Coe needs to sue some of those X accounts.
Kenyans can't seem to forgive Coe for 1/ setting the greatest 800m WR that was until recently bettered by only two Kenyans (on EPO). 2/ Cracking down on rampant doping and corruption in Kenyan athletics.
Hopefully Coe takes his revenge by finally banning them.

That made me think back to this a line in a piece in the The Athletic "Strange Race to Lead Olympic Sports Gets Stranger" that talked about a smear campaign against some of the candidates.
"This past weekend, social media posts and little-known websites spread lurid claims of previous actions by two of the candidates, without providing evidence or citing sources — suggestions of personal wrongdoing serious enough to sink their campaigns. Neither the I.O.C. nor the candidates have commented publicly, but the allegations became grist for gossip at the I.O.C. gathering."
The results were pretty nasty. Just doing a quick search on X I saw posts trying to link Coe to Epstein Island. This video which got millions of views on X alone claims Coe visited Epstein island 11 times and was one of Epstein's closest associates:
So looks like one of the smear campaigns was against Coe. Pretty disgusting. Love to hear your thoughts. Surprised this hasn't been reported anywhere. I can see how you don't want to give credence out there but Seb is already being smeared with it being viewed millions of times.
Can you get more information? Maybe the Nigerian paper knows who paid for the article? It’s the IOC, so corruption is expected and tolerated, but if it turns out a major player is behind the smear campaign, it could be the biggest story of the year in international sport.

Look, I was hoping that Coe would win but he had other strikes against him. The maximum age, and unfortunately his plans to reform aspects of the IOC. He's too pro-athlete for some. I doubt the 'smear campaign' did much, as mere mortals can't vote on this anyways - only exclusive IOC members (and even then there are more rules there).
It's nice to finally have a woman at the helm symbolically, but it remains to be seen if she will improve upon things or change anything at all from the Bach era. Samaranch is very effective on the business side ensuring the IOC keeps rolling in the money, but this isn't a monarchy.
