On February 8th, on the hallowed boards of the Armory’s Millrose Games in New York City, UVA 3rd year Gary Martin ran the 2nd fastest mile in collegiate history at 3:48.82. This was also the 9th fastest mile in the world, eve...
Sometimes it’s the simple things that make people like you. Dude looks like a throwback to the 80’s-90’s with the glasses. Looking strong and if he keeps improving his form he’s gonna make world teams. Which for guys like him and Strand maintaining health will be the number one factor to taking spots from Hocker, Nuguse, Kessler, Blanks, Teare, and others. It’s a a dog eat dog sport, in order to make teams, you have to take another man’s lunch money.
Which Gary are you talking about? We mean the guy who went 3:48 at in the DMR. The guy who is humble and nice in interviews.
I believe Mr pompous is joking.
Race for the ages. BYU guy will tell his grandkids "I closed in 3:52 and went backwards! ...but just being out there competing with those guys was amazing."
Whole meet was on krack! Women's dmr just as good with BYU, Oregon and Providence all tight.
Excellent upset filled heats in both 800s and Miles. When all entrants are within 2 seconds of each other, all it takes is a modest pr for favorites to fall.
Both Martin and Strand ran incredible races. Strand knew he had to go early, and he did. That's ballsy, and what you hope to see in a championship race. You can like both of them as people. You can enjoy an excellent race without having to drag someone to prop up your guy.
Ethan is a senior. Gary is still a junior. If he stays healthy, I foresee a top 5 XC finish for Martin next fall. And, a new collegiate indoor mile record of 3:47:** next winter.
He's such a great antidote to everything America seems to stand for these days. He's humble, intelligent, a team player, and he gives it everything he's got, all the time. Would be good to see more people behave in this manner.
Like Yared. Good to know we have a smart humble future. If only in distance running.
This is a strange take. As a red-blooded, married American, I feel no shame in pointing out that Nico would be considered an objectively good looking man. Sounds like you got some personal issues with him you need to sort out.
