Wow, I really feel excited about this Jakob Ingebrigtsen guy! I think he can run some super fast times this summer! I am new to this site, but I think there are so my positive, cool and civil discussions here that makes fresh faces like me really enjoy participating in the discussions.
I am so happy there are no obsessive trolls looking to derail all Jakob threads with a bombardment of toxic negativity, which makes the site extremely unattractive to virtually any casual new user that is just looking for a cool place to discuss track and field.
I hope you think doping in track and field is also cool. There's plenty of it.
Nearly 40 other runners beat him in the HM. Most would have passed him while he was walking. They probably thought he should stick to his own event.
Even if that's true, many of us are curious what you'll say when Jakob wins the half marathon. But first let's see what happens this season, especially in Tokyo. I have no doubt that you'll find an answer to everything, just like in the indoor season 😀
I base my views on what he has achieved (or not) and not what his fans think he might do.
Wake me up when Jakob loses another outdoor global championship 1500 final. I wonder what Filip will say about that.
Well Filip was talking about what he would do in the summer. September is not the summer so he technically has not called Jakobs shot at Tokyo.
That's a very "technical" excuse if he loses - again - in the biggest race of the year. I doubt Filip was drawing a line when Jakob's form would suddenly disappear when it matters most.

He has achieved much more than all current runners.

You mean he won and the vid footage showing him walking and being passed by other runners was "fake news"?
No. I mean that you said most of the runners who finished in front of him passed him while he was walking and that is false. You don't care about facts.

It depends on your measure. His succession of losses in his main event at global championships makes his lower level victories fairly relevant. Boxers don't rate if they don't win the championship belt. It applies to champions on the track, too.

You really do like to make yourself ridiculous.
How is stating a fact making myself look ridiculous. Only if you think facts are ridiculous. And you obviously do.

Jakob has more championship gold medals than any other current runner. Does that make him the best runner of today or do you not accept that either? Is there anything you would accept?

So no one passed him while he was gassed and reduced a walk, even though he had been with the lead group at 10k and ended up something like 39th - or was it 100th? Amounts to the same. Yes, you are ridiculous.

I'm not interested in what he runs in the distances longer than the 1500/mile. They don't improve his competitive record over his main event. Even in the 5k (forget the 10k) he hasn't matched or got near matching the greats over those distances. But in his specialist distance of the 1500/mile he has been beaten for championship titles every year for some years. As Muhammad Ali might have put it, he's a contender but not the champ.
