It seems like Jakob is near his peak 365 days per year. It’s remarkable how he just lives in this state of perpetual fitness and sharpness. For a glorious moment Hocker spiked past Jakob, but it was literally for a day and no longer. Jakob could likely run 3:47 or faster on any given day every day of the year. Truly insane.
I tend to agree with this but I do think Hocker will be more competitive more times this year. Just like Kerr would’ve been had he not gone into hibernation so many times between March and July last year. I don’t think you can be Hocker and run 7:23 if you don’t have a 3:45 a sharpening workout or two away.
Or does Kerr need to go into hibernation to be competitive at championships? (Which is a smart strategy by all means). Going to be extremely interesting how they will hold up after a round of GST.
I know nobody cares about this versus owning the WR, but Nuguse is the only runner to have broken 3:48 indoors more than once and he’s done it four times.
no chance he can break that time. To break it he basically has to run 3:44 indoors. That would be like 3:42 outdoors. That 3:45 of Jakob is an incredible time and not to be under estimated in hits greatness!
Outdoors and indoors are pretty damn even, but Yared is not at his peak fitness which he said before and after Millrose. Jakob probably isn’t either but he’s probably a second or second and a half faster all things even and stays closer to his peak.
Per my OAC sources, Nuguse did triple threshold yesterday.
i cant use my shift key cause i'ma moron.
Here they come…all the excuses. What a joke. why would you be attempting a WR and do something so stupid the day before. Sounds like he doesn’t know what he’s doing
the average anti oac bot can't detect painfully obvious sarcasm it seems

Asking this in earnest…..
How many days would it take Jakob to run four sub 3:48 miles indoors? Could he do it in 8 days, 12 days, 20 days, 28 day? Could he do it in 4 days?

Hocker likely didn't spike past Jakob fitness wise. If they had wavelight and a pacer blocking the wind, Jakob would have probably run 3:26 high or 3:27 low in Paris. He's still the fittest 1500 guy out there. All the other 3 guys have never run that fast before, and they had Jakob pulling them for 1400.
Jacob's problem is not fitness, it's his inability to suddenly change gears so he can outkick someone (he needs to wind it out, can't just change from a 14 100m to to a 13, like Hocker can), and his arguably poor tactics. But the 2 go hand in hand, and because of the former, he has yet to figure out the latter (an optimal strategy for a final).

With pacers and wavelights, Jakob would have run 3:25 high. Nuguse, Hocker, and Kerr around 3:28-3:29 due to the hard 55 second laps in the middle.

in what race did this ever happen? i saw Jacob in the heats hit 12.high 100 off 14 high ish.
and in his olympic win, he took out a 143 guy in the straight with 13 low 100 out running Kerr in the last 150m by 0.7 seconds.
and Hocker, he was a big 2 m faster than kerr and goose, in the OG final, who were on fumes, but finishing well given the hoover 327.
Hocker in the 3k 723, was out gunned by Fisher, and almost beat at the finish by his friend in the 5k, got there by the skin of his teeth.
i think wrightman peak in a slow race has the best kick
and if a rabbit took the field to 1200m at world record pace, i think jacob would "outkick" them all by a wide margin, as he would hold in 13 low 100 the last 200, and the rest would be hanging on for dear life, with no kicks to be seen.

Agreed, Jakob is fitter than all of them, sonje would hold a WR pace as the rest would flounder, as we saw in Monaco or Lausanne and many other DL leagues in the past. I don't completely agree about the kick- he can definitely close hard but he sort of has to wind it up and accelerate every 100m, it seems hard for him to just go off an already fast pace. Of course, in a slow heat/race, he can do it, but so can all the other top guys.
But if we can't agree on the kick, then surely we agree his problem is tactics? Or else, how do you explain the last global champs?
I still think sickness was a big part of 2023, and at the time I thought a healthy Jakob would have rub a 56 instead of a 58 in the second lap and that would have cut it, but in hindsight I'm not entirely sure it would have mattered.

Only on LRC can someone run a 3:47 and have "a bad day" lol. I agree with you, his time today was fantastic.

He is supposed to be doing drugs that’s why 3:47 is slow. And he supposed to run faster than 3:46 at least because he boasted he was going for 3:45:00. Based on these 3:47 is way too slow for all of that. I’m happy an athlete of his cheating failed. Happy schadenfreude everybody.

Not happening. This sport is not about bettering times and performances every other day, it’s about doing so only every other decade like it used to be in the 2000s and 2010s where hardly any world records were frequently broken. This sport is about honor and integrity. If Jakob runs 3:25 this summer please let him know I will castrate my D. Have been wanting to get rid of it for the longest time so nows the time to put it on the line.

No sh*t, Sherlock. Do you even read what ppl write, before you respond?

Jakob has a ferocious and sustained KICK, I know, because I was there in Oslo, when he confronted the clown who drew all his tattoos.

Do YOU read what ppl write ? All that person is saying, is that Jakob got blew by 3 guys in Paris. ...but I believe what happens in Le Bath-house, should stay in Le Bath-house.

Fair enough, but how old is the record for the 2010 meters ?
