1) Further evidence that Wavelight is the single biggest performance enhancement aid in the current age. Forget "superspikes" - with the way all these guys train now the ability to cross that over and execute in a race is far more important and the only way it is possible is with the lights. Jakob doesn't appear to run a single race without it unless by rule (WC/OG/EC) - Yared sees him run that record in Leivin with lights, he wouldn't even waste his time without them here.
2) Further evidence that BU is the worlds fastest running surface and even though there is actual scientific proof behind that,
45 years ago, a young lad hailing from a southern suburb of Dublin ripped around the interior of Madison Square Garden 11 times. By doing so faster than six other gentlemen making the same prestigious rounds, he was crowned c...
the reality is that in the minds of the athletes it is also the go-to track when they want to run PR's and sometimes that is even more important.
3) This now becomes such an interesting season for Nuguse who clearly is in superb form right now (and even if he misses the record but runs under 3.46 it's still incredible) but is almost going to be racing non-stop until worlds. He will get a month before GST but once that starts finding some kind of race/training balance with one of the latest WC's in history is going to be well worth following.
Does europe have any indoor track that is almost as fast as BU? Or will people (Jakob) actually have to race at BU to be able to beat indoor records once the best runners have set records there?
and how can that track be legal for records/qualifying times?

Regarding the last one, I think Nuguse and Ritz will manage okay. In his breakout season of 2023, he ran an American record of 7:28 for 3k indoors on January 27, raced at a high level in pretty much every outdoor race, and finished with his best race of the season, his 3:43 mile at Pre on September 16. Granted last year was different as the DL final was his worst race of the year as he was only 6th.
You're right in that the gap for a post-indoor training block is shorter this time though. In '23, he went from February 22 to May 6 without racing. Last year, he went from March 2 to April 27. This year it will be March 2 to April 5.
Maybe he trains through one or two of the Grand Slams but historically he's been able to race at a high level pretty much the entire season.

I think he will break 3:46 but be short of the record. I think BU is fast, but at this point we are talking about tenths against Lieven/Armory in my eyes.

On the last one to be fair he got tripped up…I don’t think it was a fitness thing so much.
i don't think goose is sacrificing the outdoor season at all.
he's peaking for like 2 or 3 weeks, max, and most probably putting in some miles here and there. along with just a week of true extra high end prep, for the record.
then have a break do some mileage and come back in june,
you hit the iron while it's hot. in your career, you are luck if you have half a dozen windows to do such things, and that is for the very best and lucky.
go for it.
also, a world record might be 100k bonus, who knows? and with a world record your appearance fee will be better.
people for no good reason what so ever, forget, people are trying to make a living, in something called PRO sports.
Sam Prakel and Luke Houser still need the standard for world indoors. What's this mean for them? Do you think they get pulled to the standard easily? Or will the pace be too hot and sink their chances early. If either miss, Ciattei was next on the list and is also in the race. There could be some really good racing behind Yared.
The BU effect is compounded by the atmosphere of crowds of collegians lining the inside and outside of the track in a tight space where it gets noisy and exciting, a polar opposite to most American track meets.

I just don’t know why it is so expensive. You could just track the rabbit with some sorta of camera positioned at each of the 4 corners and have an RGB board visible on each straight to see the diff between the goal pace and the current pace. You don’t really want to be looking at the rail. You want to be able to look straight in front of you. This type of system would be much cheaper (real cost: 4x cameras (4x$20), 4x RGB panel (4x$30)= 200$)

Granted it wouldn’t be as cool for the fans, and you wouldn’t get side-by-side racing with the light
