This is the same program that begged the JoBros to take down an article about allegations of ED culture fostered by Adrian Myers… which looking at their roster likely weren’t unfounded…
Just a typical indication of the state of the NCAA. An age cheating doper who already graduated college running as a freshman… a hack coach who imports internationals and transfers and runs them into the ground while no one improves… then refuses to face the music when it blows up in their face…
always been a joke program but this is a new low. Feel bad for the kids but let’s hope they throw the book at them to set an example for the rest of these coaches without integrity
It's interesting. This runner, had she not been caught, could have gotten a US college degree and lived in relative affluence for the rest of her life. Because she was caught, I'm guessing she'll lose her scholarship and go back home to a life of relative poverty. But I can certainly understand why she did it.
THANK YOU for saying she came through Scholarbook Premier in the article. I am so suspicious of that organization. Call them out every time.
The Scholarbook "effect" not only harms the company but also casts doubt on anyone using its services. Every athlete associated with it is now under suspicion!
Will the NCAA retroactively go back and DQ her from all of her xc meets? Seems like that needs to happen. So someone else will get to be an All-American and Tulane will drop from 2nd to 4th in the conference xc standings.
Mia Cochran of Arkansas would move from 41 to 40 and Michigan State's Rachel Forsyth would move from 16th to 15th (and get a trophy from the NCAA)
They never do that. Khan never had his results DQ'd, I feel bad for the Auburn kid that was runner up in the 1500 that year at SECS. It is a bit ridiculous that they do not do that though, Louisville can lose a basketball title for recruiting violations, but an athlete never loses a title in the NCAA even after being popped for doping.
The difference is Khan was not suspended or provisionally suspended while he competed for NCAA, he got popped later over the summer. Not saying retroactive DQ is not appropriate for Khan, but the current situation seems more clearly to warrant a DQ for her fall 2024 NCAA competitions.
Where are all the people from the last thread about Kenyans in the NCAA saying that anyone who was concerned about this practice is supporting "DEI" for American athletes?
They were so confident there and so quiet here. Come on, say it with your chest.
All scholarbook athletes need to be banned from NCAA
Why are people criticizing scholarbook.
Unless more comes out, at this point in time, the blame in this case should go to
1) ADAK Kenya for not telling anyone she was provisionally suspended.
2) The athlete for not telling anyone she was provisionally suspended.
What I want to know is who is the person that got the letter that ADAK sent to the athlete saying she was going to be suspended. Someone got it, sent it to someone else, who in turn sent it to us.
So someone was clearly covering up her suspension and someone wanted it to get out. Who did the coverup?

Uhhh probably scholarbook since they’re profiting on athletes they send over??

Tulane coach needs to be suspended. That will go a long way towards cracking down on this nonsense. Coaches need to be held responsible for who they recruit and allow to compete on their teams with respect to eligibility, no matter where they come from (but especially if they come from a radioactive place like Kenya).

Sorry I'm not starting at this message board every minute, but I'm right here.
The great thing about treating people as individuals, no matter race or country of origin, is that I can say this runner shouldn't have been running and be disappointed that it wasn't caught earlier all while believing that foreign runners that haven't broken rules should be allowed to run.

All good points. Suspensions, provisional or not, should never be a secret. Otherwise all of that is bound to happen sooner or later. Now all the athletes how raced with that banned athletes formally committed an ARDV.
Sadly ADAK is not the only one. See the AIU with Houlihan, and USADA even kept full suspensions a secret.
Some more rudimentary detective work to investigate this claim:
Before she was picked up by Scholarbook, Caroline was a member of a club called Braveheart Runners, a team sponsored by Scott Running out of Iten and coached by Alistair Davidson. Link here:
Now, this is where things get interesting. Despite an active social media presence and frequent highlights of races, there is no mention whatsoever of the Kapsabet Half Marathon on Braveheart's Instagram. The only races mentioned around March 31, 2024 are the Kilimanjaro Half Marathon in Tanzania and a 20k race in Lausanne Switzerland.
Notice in both posts she has her trademark red hair, and races in either a white or black singlet with neon green highlights and Scott logo. And while they have a tendency to highlight what races they have next in many posts, no other posts make any mention of a race in Kapsabet.
I was able to find a video of the start of the Kapsabet Half here:
Nowhere is Caroline and her red hair or her white or black singlets visible, and none of the runners resemble her very closely. She certainly isn't among any of the front runners.
Now, its certainly possible that Braveheart Runners would have deleted a post after the fact, or that I'm not reviewing the race footage closely enough, but taken together I think its certainly possible that this Gingerlemon's post is a viable explanation as to what happened, or at the very least that there is more here than meets the eye
This article has a photo of her with short hair in all black similar to someone in that race. I don't know if it's her it's hard to tell in video. I tried to see who the race bib matches in the results but the results I found didn't have bib #s listed.
