Hmm... GD, do you really think society is redefining itself according to the set of ideas that those words represent? People talk a lot about the words, but for the most part society has not changed beyond the talk. I know there are exceptions -- such as a few examples of transgender girls playing female sports with male bodies -- but I don't see the big shift you are suggesting.
To be clear, I'm not trying to attack you GD. I am curious about what you are thinking. Can you elaborate on the places you see society being redefined by the ideas that the gender terms represent?
Well, in some states and businesses, all laws that used to pertain to biolgoical sex are now interpreted as referring to gender identity. This is how somebody like Will (Lia) Thomas was able to win a women's sport despite Title IX. Note that Thomas didn't just swim on the men's team, he also got naked in front of women in the locker rooms, and those who complained were offered psychological therapy. But this is just one high profile incident and just one law. Any time a male does this, every woman and girl who uses whatever facilities he enters is affected.
Aside from sports, the replacement of sex with gender identity has meant that male prisoners have been housed in women's prisons, and it's not just a one-off thing. The reinterpretation and rewriting of laws means that things that used to be a crime (exposing one's penis to women in public) is now not a crime. The flasher can literally just walk into a women's locker room, then accuse any women who complain of being hateful (and being perverts for looking!).
There is a trans women who uses the locker room at my local gym, and this person has the following bumper stickers on their car: "Diet C*nt," "This Vehicle Goes from Zero to B*tch in 3.5 Seconds," and "Eat P*ssy, Not Meat." Everybody pretends that this person is a woman. It's illegal in my state for the gym to not pretend. So now I don't change my clothes in the locker room. I just use it to hang up my coat and change my shoes.
A friend of our family married her high school sweetheart a handful of years ago, and he decided to transition. Now he has boobs and longish hair and constantly rants about how oppressed he is and how everybody who denies that he's a woman is denying his very existence. Now the family friend is divorced (good for her), but she's so caught up in the gender nonsense that she can't even name or talk about the awful thing that happened to her. She talks about having had a "queer wedding" in a Catholic Church and about her "ex-wife."
Aside from this, it's very bad on university campuses. I have spent a lot of time on them in recent years, and people who work there would very likely get reported for a "bias incident" if they said that there are two sexes, male and female--even though this is a fact. People who work with students are constantly afraid of misgendering one and having to deal with the fallout. Most of the students, including the trans and nonbinary-identified ones, are pleasant, but the threat lingers constantly. It just takes one unstable person to create hell, and nothing accomplishes that better than a set of ideas that say we have to believe whatever a person tells us to belive about them.
To be clear, I am surrounded by lots and lots of progressives. I used to be one until things got out of hand in recent years. It's not an exaggeration to say that many of them literally don't know what a woman or man is anymore. They've bought into the nonsense of extreme postmodernism and the idea that language and culture create reality. I've had a man tell me that his "sister" (transwoman/brother) was in danger of physical harm because I referred to Caster Semenya as male (she is.). I've also been told that transwomen can't have male advantage because they're female. I'm not making this stuff up. Some also believe that you can't tell what sex a person is unless you check their genitals.

Actually it IS an exaggeration. This is where people like you lose credibility. Why do you need to lie to make your point?

...so quote their "lie" !!! ...otherwise people like you lose credibility. ...unless you are lying. I read the boards and didn't spot any lies from GD.
...I am sure you think I AM stupid...so please help me out on this message board. ...please cut and paste where you quoted GD's "lie" ...I really can't see the lie or the quote. ...closest I can see is you saying: "I don't see the big shift you are suggesting". ...so perhaps a difference of opinion regarding the size of a transgender 'shift' is something you now interpret as a lie ??? It gets confusing to work out who is stupid. ...

Where is the lie?
-that a re-interpretation of a sex-based policy (Title IX) allowed a male to compete in women's sports despite the policy's original intention of giving females equal opportunity? How else do you explain what happened?
-that similar re-interpretations of the meaning of sex/gender has led to males, some of them violent sex offenders, being housed in women's prisons and in prison cells with women who did not consent to share private spaces with males? There is documentation of these cases, including lawsuits filed by women subjected to these living conditions.
-that there is a trans woman at my local fitness club with these bumper stickers on their car. Despite my frustration at the state laws and social norms that allow this person to come into the women's locker room, there is no way I would provide evidence since this would make the person identifiable and open to abuse.
-that people at universities are afraid of misgendering students? Talk to people who work there, especially those who interact with humanities and social science students. It's an even better idea to talk to people for whom English is a second language. Pronoun rules are very difficult for them, and many are constantly on edge, lest their grammar error be viewed as a bias or hate incident
-that language changes have reshaped people's views of reality? How else do you explain the fact that some of the most vocal supporters of males in women's prisons, in women's sports, and of extensive cosmetic and physiological remodeling of the body for aesthetic purposes (and to fit traditional sex/gender expectations) are people who call themselves feminists? Feminists support something that is the opposite of or inversion of feminism because their views of reality have been reshaped through language.
Much of this is so nonsensical and shocking as to be unbelievable. I get it. But it is an accurate description of reality. Through speech act, some human beings are declaring themselves members of the other sex or no sex and all, and lots of people and major institutions are embracing these linguistic declarations as more true or authentic than material reality.
NB: it's much easier to accuse somebody of being a liar or resort to other ad hominem attacks than it is to engage with what I wrote.
That is trumpish in itself. listen, I’m not a fan of the man. however, your post above regarding the Germany deal, is the exact same attitude as Trump.

I didn’t realize I should be thankful that the colleges my children attend, aren’t like the war zones you describe.
At this point, very few people care about Semenya, or have even heard of her, so maybe you are making that stuff up. Still, after reading your post, Im kind of afraid to go outside.

Are you and the other poster really so stupid that you cannot understand rudimentary language? You know damn well why I am calling you out for your prevarication. Own it.

You are exposed. No substance. ...or show us the quote of the lie ..."again" ...oops, let me guess...from past experience of your type. ..."too busy" "you had your chance to read it" ...wish you could properly understand how low I feel about zero-substance cry-babies like you.
I think it's actually really fun (and good for the sport). They're both controversial, both tatted up, both personable and good on camera. Entertainment value through the roof.
you mistakenly (pathetically) FELT like you read a lie...DIDN'T put it in to words, probably because there was no lie and THEN you became the first person related to this subject who DID lie...by pretending that you called out a lie. ...when it was all in your head the whole time. ...then you hide. What a failure ! ...spend some time in the room of mirrors. See what we see and become a better person. ...starting with becoming honest. Honestly, it's not very hard.
