Depends on how much you ingest and how often. There is research that suggests taking it for workouts as well as races induces long term performance benefits. Problems arise with all of the excess sodium intake. If bi-carb is only used a couple times a week, the risk of cardiovascular issues is pretty low for high volume endurance athletes. If taken more often though, TBD.
