Mike Smith with an elite stopwatch throw post-race. Has to be thinking his guys won’t make it in the 3K or something?
A fine throw, nothing great. Though, indoors does hamper performances so a full overhand chuck is probably not in the cards. Hard to tell the distance- a smarter move would have been a spike and shatter. Leave no doubt.
Might be time for Mike to give up the stopwatch and move to a clipboard snap over the knee
So now that Chamerlain is #2 in the 3000 after back to back days does she go the 3000? I think 1000% yes. Mile too unpredictable. She can win the 3000.
8:40.6 for Halladay Lowry, with Chamberlain and Stearns right on her back and Sophia Kennedy 4th in 8:42.5
12 second pr for Sophia, breaking Amy's SR from two weeks ago. (And Bunnage just broke Whittaker's mile SR.)
Kennedy ran a 9:14 pr last year. Now, down to 8:42. A 32-second pr in 13 months.
JJ is a proponent of lactate testing. Intended to help prevent overtraining and injuries. Sophia had injuries in hs but none since @ Stanford. Whatever JJ has his women doing is working for more than just W&W.
Almost impossible to believe Sophia has risen to Amy's level of fitness -- especially given how incredible Bunnage has been since xc -- but here they are.
Stanford fans have seen Sophia set pr after pr since stepping on campus, but this performance catapults her to the national stage. No more hiding in Amy's shadow or following in her wake.
Bunnage & Kennedy vs Hartman & Gapes will be amongst the highlight races @ ACCs in two weeks.
And -- since this topic seems to be an obsession with many -- Sophia is a true soph @ Stanford; just turned 20 last month.
Father Bob's collegiate track accomplishments could one day be eclipsed by his daughter if this keeps up.

I was gonna say - it's astonishing how good she's gotten. She was good in HS, but nothing crazy. I guess I shouldn't be too shocked or anything, considering who her dad is.
