She’s clearly not fast enough and still in high school, just got into this heat because of name recognition
Not fast enough?? She just beat Hurta and Ramsden. Both not even close to her. Yes. She is very fast enough to be in Millrose. What the hell is your problem??
She’s in the Wanamaker Mile because she’s really freaking fast
Lighten up guys, she is a legendary HS runner at this point but is not by any definition "really freakin fast". She is 2-3 sec PER 400 too slow for olympic standard.
Oh yes, when people think Jenny Simpson they think Sadie Englehardt! 2 of those people are an entire straight away faster than SE. Give me break. Give her some time. She aint running 3:57 this week.

It’s doesn’t mean much that she beat Hurta and Ramsden. They’ve both run 4:02 and there’s no way that Engelhardt can currently run that fast. They must be coming off injuries to run as slowly as they did.

Right! Injured LOL....keep making up excuses for their dismal race

That’s not the point. Jim Ryun opened his 1972 with a 4:19. Does it mean something that a 4:05 guy might have beaten him that day?
I don’t care about defending Ramsden and Hurta but you agree that Engelhardt beat two good 1500m runners having dismal races.
Mary Cain was in the Wanamaker Mile in 2013 and took several seconds off her previous PR to set the record Sadie is trying to break. Sadie has already repeated running sub-4:30, last week in fact

You really don’t get how event promotion works, do you ? The winner of the race will run a so-so time by pro standards . She will tuck in the back and be pulled to a 4:26 national record and that will be the big story
