So what? Why are people freaking out about this? They'll probably fix a lot of bugs in the code. Elon might even put it up on GitHub so everybody can contribute. That's democracy in action.
How is this democracy in action? Trump appointed a guy that no one elected, does not hold an official government position so no confirmation hearings, was not clearance checked and has a serious conflict of interest (large active government contracts) to "cut costs". The first thing he does is bring in a team of also un-elected, non clearance checked programmers to start modifying the payment systems of the US. This contains classified data and lots of bank and personal data about US citizens. This should scare the crap out of everyone.
Where do you libs get this stuff? The president is supposed to have elections for his staff?

Cool it, Sparky. Nobody said anything about the president having elections for his staff. 🙄
Security clearances, we’re talking about security clearances. Did the DOGGIE staff get security clearances? Do you know?
Musk, a guy that has made billions from the US government, and his staff has access to a trove of data that adversaries of this country would love to have access to. Musk also has access to a lot of his competitors’ confidential information. If you don’t see any conflicts of interest or any potential for compromise, you’re dumber than a sack of spuds.
I took FORTRAN in college in case I would come across it. Never seen it since.
My first programming course was Fortran. First couple of programs we had to use punch cards (ever heard of 'shuffling the deck'? Hint: dont do it). I wrote one program in Fortran in my entire professional career. Even back then (late 70s, early 80s) they didn't teach COBOL in engineering school, maybe they did in business schools?

Musk is the CEO of a rocket company. Lots of contracts with the military and government which require high level clearances. I presume he took the best talent out of his cleared staff.

Don't presume, don't assume. We need facts and oversight.
Would you give the guy in your town who has the most money and a few of his 20yr old employees the keys to your house and all your computer and banking passwords because you presume he is good at business and probably ethical? Only if you are pretty stupid.

I am so sorry you are tired of people questioning illegal activity. There is no one overseeing what they are doing. Oversight officers were intentionally fired to hide it. They don't have security clearance. They did not get confirmed by Senate as any head of a dept with this kind of access is required to do. Massive conflict of interest including foreign businesses and government contracts.
All those federal employees have oversight and security clearances.
You conveniently ignored and didn't quote the other points of the post because it weakened your argument.
We should all be alarmed. But some want a handful of people to have total control of gevernment with no visibility or oversight, as long as it is "their side".
How is this democracy in action? Trump appointed a guy that no one elected ...
I am so tired of this retarded argument.
The only federal employees who are elected are the president, vice president, senators, and representatives. The other 3 million federal employees are unelected. Many of them also have access to your social security number. Complaining about this only reveals that you don't know what you're talking about.

It's another win for China and other America's adversaries. That's why people are freaking out.

Lol I use Fortran on a weekly basis. It's not good because it's old, it's old because it's good!

Seen a lot of people clamoring about the illegal activity. I'm admitting uninformed about the inner workings of what's happening but common sense would say that if it is illegal, it should be simple to bring them up on charges in court and put things to a stop. Considering I haven't seen that, my assumption is that the illegality is just a talking point being passed around without basis. Feels a lot like "I don't like that, it must be illegal". But once again, I'm uninformed and there's probably at least some form of legal code out there that could be interpreted in a myriad of ways.
Ultimately nothing changes so I have no feeling of alarm. It goes from one set of hands holding control with no visibility to another. But if there is a downsizing of government in the process of that changing of hands, there's less places to hide things from the public - could be a good benefit.

Because neither of them are Gov employees. We have someone who just walked in there digging through our Treasury. Your social security number is on there.
What makes a government employee so special? They watched some 30 minute course on data privacy? The government regularly hires new people and has them working on 'sensitive data'... Not vastly different than someone getting a new job at US Bank and seeing all of someone's account information and social security number. Liberals just hate Elon Musk ever since he started making non liberal comments like 10 years ago.
I would say this fellow is no dummy. Thank you Elon for all your efforts to expose the swamp and knowing what real talent not DEI hires can accomplish.
He's absolutely no dummy and the Vesuvius scrolls work was tremendously exciting, but he doesn't know COBOL and doesn't know the domain specific requirements (which is more important).
He's very bright, but I wouldn't want him doing open-heart surgery.

What President Musk is doing is 100 percent illegal and unconstitutional. It is not just a talking point.
But MAGA controls law enforcement (Justice Dept, FBI), Congress and the Supreme Court, so there is nobody to stop Musk.
