She was on her check ride, and therefore not the pilot in command. The responsibility for the crash is the pilot in the left seat, you know the guy who said they had the plane in sight. But really it isn't his fault either. We always want to blame people for catastrophes because it takes us all off the hook for designing a system that failed. This was a systemic failure--restricting air traffic into a narrow area after 9/11, only having 100 feet vertical separation between transiting helicopters and arriving planes, creating an approach where you fly 96% of one runway then immediately make a hard turn for the other runway, underpaying and understaffing air traffic control towers, lowering flying time requirements for regional airline pilots and copilots. All of that together is what caused this accident. You remove two of any of the above and the accident doesn't happen.

This is what I was going to say too. Trump is an ass and would come after her for being a woman and being less intelligent than a white man that he would have had flying the helicopter.

I get not wanting attention if you're a family member or something, but it's like the military deliberately withheld her name until all her social media accounts could be scrubbed. There is one and only one reason why you would do that which is you want to hide things. What do people here make of this? Not trying to inflame. Just seems really odd to me.
Also, not trying to politicize this per se, but 60 innocent people did just die due to this person. I feel like it's everyone's right to know what happened, why, and everything else so that something like this doesn't happen again.
It’s odd the 3 helicopter pilots will be honored. They killed everyone on that plane. Idc what their intentions in life were. Their incompetence lead to way more tragedy than any good they did in their lives. They should be posthumously dishonorably discharged
The altimeter in the helicopter was malfunctioning: showing 200 ft when in fact they were over 300 ft. This is one of the things the NTSB is looking into--the reason for the discrepancy. As of now, there is no firm evidence that the helicopter crew failed, only that the helicopter did in fact cause the crash.

The military is likely doing anything it can to limit damages because of the wrongful death suit.
