It's easy to say something like this, but it also would have been very easy to just make the profile private. The only reason I can think of to scrub someone's social media pages before giving their name is to hide something. I don't think the military would have withheld her name for several days just because her parents didn't want people to see a few pics of her... It seems like there must have been something damning about her social media that the military did not want known publicly.

It's possible I'm reading too much into this, but it seems like it would be very, very odd if the above weren't the case. I'm not a fan of Trump and am not trying to support him, but he did say/imply this was the result of DEI and that that truth would come out soon. Given he is commander in chief, I have to think he was briefed on the details of this that the rest of us aren't privy to (yet?). The guy says a lot of things, so I'm still taking it with a grain of salt, but if true, this is pretty fvcking big. Sixty innocent people died, and we haven't had a plane crash of any kind this deadly in 24 years...

It might be at the family's request. They don't want the memory of their family member picked apart and criticised by people and then smeared all across the internet.

Withholding her name for a few days doesn't seem that odd. For all we know it's policy? For example (sorry to mention this) but can they even release a name until the body is found? So it could've been that. Also, did the family request that out of respect her name not be released? Yes you can set social media to private but then some a$$hole 'friend' would probably sell things to the press.

Additionally, you are implying it was ‘scrubbed’ to protect some ‘DEI’ info. That doesn’t even make sense, why would Trump’s administration withhold the name so people could remove info that helps him? And why would Mark Z not help recover that data?

It’s odd the 3 helicopter pilots will be honored. They killed everyone on that plane. Idc what their intentions in life were. Their incompetence lead to way more tragedy than any good they did in their lives. They should be posthumously dishonorably discharged

As everyone seems to agree, skin color and gender do not indicate experience and qualifications.

The goal of DEI is to hire the most qualified, while ignoring irrelevant factors like skin color, and gender, and preferences.

They called this a training mission. Who was being trained? She had 500 hours of helicopter flying experience, while the white male senior pilot had over 1,000 hours. Many plane crashes occur where there are chain of command issues, for instance, on a Malaysian flight where the younger co-pilot felt that he could not speak up when his superior was making a mistake. There could be issues with fatigue at that time of the night. The miscommunication could have made them think they were clear because there were two different planes right around them. Who knows? But the fact that she was a gay woman tells you nothing about "DEI". The military has a lot of women in it because there aren't enough qualified young men entering the military, and that's been the case since the 1990s. Among those women, I would bet you that a lot higher percentage are gay than in the general population, just as in the WNBA or LPGA. More "masculine" interests correlate. It's no surprise women tough enough to make it in the military are gay. It says nothing about whether she was qualified to pilot the plane. Men tend to take more risks as drivers and accordingly get into a lot more accidents and get killed in car accidents much more often. So, is there any inherent reason that they'd be better helicopter pilots? Honestly, Trump just wanted to make this into a debate about DEI that proponents couldn't win because of a) the disastrous outcome of the flight and b) the lack of any stats to show whether women are capable pilots.

In general, aviation (.03% of accidents) is far safer than road (99.86% of accidents) and rail (0.11%).
