12 events each for men and women. So 24 races over three days or 8 per day. I guess it’s not as sparse as I was imagining it, but it’s going to be tough to get people into the stands for three days in a row.
Why are the days three hours long with only eight events? They should be able to get it done in two.
Going to be a lot of BS filler in the broadcasts each time. Probably good ones to record and FF.
But what will the production be like? Shaggy like Flotrack? Do the facilities they picked allow for quality production? Have they invested in what is required to broadcast a quality event?
Great news - I was very excite to see Peacock picking it up. I was thinking Netflix would be another option since they had Sprint do well and wants to get into live sports.
The sites are ok - I wish they chose Atlanta over Miami since Miami besides the folks who live down there is a long drive / requires a flight. Overall pretty excited still, pacers for one of the events might of been a better move for the 800+ distance to make sure they do get faster times. I expect a few races to be slow kicks but maybe they make like background details with contenders to keep the pace reasonable. Like a 13:30-13:40, 5K race with a 53 close isn't super interesting to me. NB Grand Prix had a good mix of pacing and racing for like the 3K.

Looking at the structure of the events there’s a little more than ~35 minutes of actual competitive time for the women for all of the events at one meet. Slightly less for the men. Plus getting them onto the track, to the start line, in blocks for several events, etc. But that’s not a ton of action to spread over three days and nine hours.
It’s difficult enough to watch the NBC “human interest” focus on athletes that they use as part of their packaging and filler on TV. But how do you fill that time for the live audience? Will there be “undercard” events on the track between the Grand Slam events?

They failed to be picked up by a Network. Its not an Olympic year. US always gets 1/10th the seats sold in China, Europe, Morrocco, Qatar. GST worked hard, I appreciate they tried but failed.
The bigger question is who is paying to have the meet on The CW--did GST buy time and hope they can sell commercial ad time, or did The CW give GST a check?
Also, is The CW paying production/talent costs, or is GST paying for it?
I feel like one of the meets should be in Las Vegas. Easy to get to, lots to do when not attending the meet. It's easy to get fans to come to Vegas for 3 days. The weather in April is good for track. June not so much

There's truly no way they were ever going to get on network TV. The time slots that NBC would be willing to give up for GST or a time slot that they could afford wouldn't have been worth it.
