I guess a flotrack employee posted this.
for everyone's complaints about these guys I sure hope you are not being a hypocrite and paying they[re monthly fee.
I hope diamond league gets no views this year.
He was done when he joined BTC. They train too hard

The GOAT of workout Wednesday vids
Injury could have started there. Just because you're not limping the next day doesn't mean one overcooked session didn't break something.
Showing off for workout wednesday (and people in general is real). We've all run workouts too hard to show off.
I recall one Workout Wednesday where the team (I think it was Providence) just went for a normal recovery run. It was great because the guys were talking the whole time and didn't do anything stupid. Not great (perhaps) for those sitting at home watching but we train to race faster, not entertain keyboard warriors.

Jesus, OP, type what the workout was.
People shouldn't have to click a link and watch a video when you can actually share information.
It's like you're promoting Flotrack views lol.
I had to race these dudes every week in the old big 12. People love to doodoo on talent and on coaches but Dave Smith was and is a great coach. German was also a bad ass. You know he won Big 12s a few weeks after this right?
He ran 13:25 that year and was NCAA champion outdoors so he could do some big workouts. None of you are in 13:25 shape so you may not get “training” at that level. He also was the top non African at World junior cross, beat Ryan Gregson another phenom by 27 seconds!
Why shame a kid for trying to be great in a workout 16 years ago?
Should he have only jogged in zone 2?
If German had trained like a triathlete with an emphasis on running like Verzbicas he probably would still be competing today

obviously assuming no bike crashes

He was also co-deputy of the year in his department a few years ago and got huge praise for what he and another officer did in one area of the city. Sounds like he's doing great, good for him.

Yeah he was always going to get hurt unless he had a really smart/productive coach who managed hin ideally, which was unlikely to happen to begin with. If you look at Valby, her coach has designed a program that works for her on low mileage and cross training. Most coaches would force her to run the same as everyone else on the team and she'd be injured most of college. That's the difference between a smart coach who's proactive and incompetent or reactive coaches who run a sweatshop where only the most durable make it out alive.

Looks like German Hernandez was 5th at the midwest regional in 2008 and then didn't run at the NCAA championships.
He did run NCAA championship. He didn’t finish the NCAA championship. He fell to the ground grabbing his ankle about halfway through. There’s a famous picture of it. I’m sure if you dig through the LR race coverage you can find it.
wrong german fernandez. Good try though. Would be funny if he actually ended up a cop (ala, ruben reina)
