I'm on an internship in Evansville, IN where Illinois, Kentucky and Indiana all run into each other. Today on my long run one guy in a minivan yelled "buy a car" while another yelled "yaw f*** you" in a classic Kentucky accent.
What is wrong with these people and What's the dumbest things people have yelled at you while you are running?

(Get this, while training for Seaside Ore. marathon, Feb.) "Hey, a little early for Spring training huh?" Totally cracked me up the rest of my 15 miler.
"Eat something!" -- yesterday
I got "Eat something" too. Some f***ing hippy said it to me.
Years of running in CNY and I've never been yelled at from a car. The one time I run distance in Amarillo, Texas I get yelled at twice. Nothing creative pretty lame stuff.
I see why they call Amarillo the armpit of Texas.
When were you in Amarillo? Just passing through?

Cross country car tour about 15 years ago.
When I was shirtless and 5'10" 140lbs:
"You gotta put some meat on that bird!"
When I ran past a very drunk man who couldn't quite express himself:
"Jingle Jingle Jingle"
When a group of us passed a guy and his grilfriend from behind:
"y'all better send out a warning notice next time"
When I passed a group of african-american children in a bus:
"run, white cracker"
And at all times:
"Run, Forrest, run"
And at all times:
"Run, Forrest, run"
Yeah I've only gotten that one a few times but that probably make me the angriest of all. At least other people thought of something other than a movie line from 10 years ago.
It's always something along the lines of "I'm a stupid moron!" That's not what they say, but we all know what they mean.
Pattern: Always in cars, multiple males, never approaching a stop sign or traffic light. In other words, no chance I can find out how well they fight.
A few times I've gotten some comments from women, and they've never been negative. At my age I'll take it wherever I can get it.
Doing an easy distance run, decided to pass through an inner city not-so-great neighborhood. Me and my teammate, both white, striding by in short shorts and no shirts on a hot summer day, all the black(not being rascist)city kids out on their stoops, everyone was laughing and horsing around untill they see us, and they all stopped completely and stared at us.
Lots of "cracka" and "Look at these guys" kinda stuff, but the one i liked was...
"What are you foos doin, trainin for dee academy or sumfin??"
This doesn't quite fit, but the thread instantly made me think of this:
One time about 5 years ago I was running with my boys xc team, when this red t-top drove by slowly. A few minutes later it came back from the other direction going very slowly, and this read-headed girl stood up in her passenger seat, yelled something at us, then pulled her top up and gave us a long look. I could not say a word.
Some old scum of the earth looking guy smoking a cigarette outside of a chinese restaurant bar said "Heart, Health" to me really sarcastically.
Boy I really felt bad about myself after he put me in my place. I immidiately went and bought a pack of butts and had a couple of Bud longnecks so he would think I was cool.
I think we need to get together on these boards, and finally come up with a comeback to "run forest run". Ten years of hearing this and I still have nothing.
Also as an added bonus you get a link to the tallest man ever to live and a few of his bithces.

I always try to keep it humorous and yell back.. "I gotta find Bubba" in my forrest gump voice

People like to say the f word to runners, and flip them off, honk, and my favortie...throw stuff. These are some thinks thrown at us:
-Ju-ju-bees
-eggs
-water balloons
-water ballons filled with milk
-taco bell cups
-soda cans
The best is one girl got a big rubber rain boot thrown at her haha.
Then we were shot at with airsoft guns. Chased the car into neighborhood streets. Actually stopped the car and open the doors to pull the kids out, but I knew one of the kids so there was no fight, even though we really wanted to.
When I was 6'-1", 155:
Stop running, go home and eat!
Usually the reply "that aint what your mama said last night" shuts them up
I get the nice shorts thing and I ask them how long they have fantasized about another mans ass.
Many times I've caught up to a car of would be hecklers in town and called them all out only to have them punk out like little bitches.
i got "do you have a cigarette?" for the first time the other day.
