Feel free to re-format it. Instead of just complaining. You’re more than welcome to. Thanks for pointing out flaws.
I always format it in my own posts. I'd rather you post nothing at all than 100 lines with 90% of them worthless (or in your case, 99%, since only the lines 10th, Kate Grace, and 4:20.70 mattered to what you were saying), and it makes scrolling through a thread much more difficult. You're not the only offender, it's super common, I just happened to decide after reading yours that every time in the future that I see it, I'm going to ask people to do better. Literally it takes almost no effort to do, and me reformatting your post won't get rid of the absolute trash that you already posted.
Something my dad taught me when I was like 10 was that it's better to be concise with the minimal amount of information to get your point across, than to include tons of superfluous information, because people's eyes will just glaze over and they won't read it. Just trying to pass that wisdom on <3
500 words to rag on someone about not being concise. Classic!

In addition to all that, when she won NCAA D1 Cross Country in 2023, she also broke the historic course record in Oklahoma and led the entire field to such fast times that nearly 20 women ALSO broke the previous course record. In one race.
Not to be take away from her performance, because it was insane, but I think it was Valby that led the field to such a fast time, Tuohy just ran her down in the last km lol
I feel like a lot of people have written her off/forgotten about Tuohy, which is kinda to be expected since she hasn't been in the limelight for a while. Still, I think she'll be one of the best in the US for years to come. It's more than normal for pros to struggle their first year. Hopefully she runs a great race today as the start to a great season.
You took away from her performance. That's racing- people race each other and one person wins.
Who runs PRs in the middle of January? And at the elite level why would you want to?
Josette Andrews an OAC runner always PRs in the winter. Then sucks in outdoor meets. I think she finally learned her lesson. A little late at 30 yrs old.

But his point, which evidently went over your head, was that it was Valby that led that field to a fast time, because if she hadn’t been in that race, there is no way it would have been that fast with just Tuohy leading.

as I recall the field ignored Valby when she took off at about 1500 m, so I for one have no idea how fast Tuohy would have gone if that did not happen. It looked to me like she just ran her typical race, something close to 20:00 and then accelerated. Maybe she would have waited till 4000 or so without Valby out there so perhaps a small affect on her time, but who knows?

Dr Sanders was an orthopedic surgeon practicing in Manhattan. He was also my doctor, who I really admired. He won the NYC marathon in 1974. Back in the day we raced in the armory on an unbanked board track. The armory eventually became dilapidated, track pulled out to create a homeless shelter. Dr Sanderson and others raised millions to recreate a world class track that we now have
