I had this from Covid, actually. I was coughing so much and so hard that I pulled a bunch of muscles in my chest. It made every cough a new adventure in pain. Takes a long time to heal too.
Let’s be real. Rojo just wanted to show off his weight loss. Jon Gault doesn’t want this cured as he doesn’t want to be yelled at, and if yelling is painful…and last but not least, you need to go to the doctor so he can ask that you cough. Isn’t that the best part of a doctor’s visit?
Not necessarily because he is still relatively young I believe around 50 but there would be no harming having a PSA test which would give quite a bit of information about the state of his prostate. The PSA normal values are 0 - 4.0, but go up with age, as the prostate gland increases.
Often there are no symptoms of prostate cancer unless it becomes metastatic.
Bill Rodgers had prostate cancer many years ago and elected to have his prostate totally removed before it became metastatic. There are risks of incontinence and ED but sometimes the prostatectomy is indicated as the best therapeutic action.
On a personal note was diagnosed with PC in February 2024 with a PSA of 8.4, Pi-Rad 5, Gleason 3 + 3, and currently under active surveillance. Have to deal with this. It's not fun. Biopsies - not pleasant. PSA tests - for life.

Side note: Normal PSA - 0 - 4.0.
Normal Pi-Rad - 0 - 1.
Normal Gleason - < under total of 3+ 3.
Good luck.
Well Ghost take care of yourself. Sometimes you say silly things but the board benefits from your posting.
WellI certainly don't want to a) have to go to my primary care doctor who knows way less about sports injuires than you or I. b) get referred to someone who is going to do an EKG, MRI, etc.
1) That would take a LOT OF time. 2) I imagie most likely I've just strained a muscle so there is nothing they cna do. 3) If people were paying out of pocket, there is a close to zero percent chance they'd have all of those tests done since everything indicates I strained it on my run.
I was thinking of just calling up my physical therapist as you don't need a referral. He also does some back manipulation. He might massage it a little, give me a little ultrasound, hell even dry needle my calves when I'm in there. That way I'd at least feel like I was doing something while my body was most likely healing itself. So many times we go to a doc or trainer and think, "Wow they did x and I got better when you very well might have gotten better" without it
But would ice or heat help?
You haven't done a sport for decades. This is not a sport injury. Go to a doctor!
Even in the 7th grade all of the other kids are laughing at you not with you.
Since you're not funny and you're young, without any real life experiences to draw from, I'll give you a real life story that you can say is yours. Deal?
When I used to work at the AMEX (now NYSE American) I had to get a physical. Pretty much everyone who worked there went to the same doctor, next door. Her first name was Kathy. Her last name also sounds like a girls name, but let's just call her "Dr Kathy".
So she gives me the usual BP, HR, EKG, blood and urine. Everything's cool. Then I see her putting on latex gloves. With frowned eyebrows and a concerned look I said,
"Uh, Dr Kathy, you're not going to try to do to me, what I think you are -- are you?"
She smiled, tugging at the latex, and said, "Yeah.."
So I said, "Dr Kathy, usually I don't get that far until the third date. You got some wine?" Now shes laughing. But I'm not making my case very well.
Finally, the Hail Mary ... "Dr Kathy, I gotta tell you something else.... I'm dirty down there."

As the song goes ... "and out the door I went."
Digital rectal exams are unpleasant, but only take less than 60 seconds. Prostate exams, under local anaesthetic, are really unpleasant, and last much longer. Basically a torture session lasting 30 to 45 minutes.
I've seen army veterans reduced to tears in that torture chair....click, click, another, never ending sample... taken by the urologist, with an empathetic Filipino nurse (female/male/or in between) holding your hand ...tests, sweat, tension, welcome to Urology hell 101.
Lastly, there's a correlation between Prostate Cancer 🦀 and the Western diet, rich in meat, cheese, dairy. Prostate Cancer much less present in Asian communities who consume much less meat, cheese, dairy.
If you're relatively young, be advised to make veggies, fruit etc, some fish, an important part of your diet. Not necessarily vegan - unsustainable for many, but flexetarian or vegetarian is encouraged.
Definitely see a doctor. I can say, though, that a few times I had really painful rib pain from tweaking the ribs doing what should have been really easy exercises and it lasted weeks.
