What do fraternities (and sororities) even exist? Universities in other countries do just fine without them.
They exist to serve alcohol to underage students and to have sex with coeds. There are other things they do but they wouldn't exist without those objectives. It's not uncommon that the sex is coerced or forced but it's unusual for it to be prosecuted. They've been tolerated a long time, probably out of tradition.

What's the point of your post? Bad things happen in this world all over. You want me to not speak to my wife or all the kids I coached who are grads?
If true, my sympathies to the victim. If not, my sympathies to the accused. Given what happened with the Duke lacrosse case, I think we should not rush to judge.
