Why recruit Kenyans when he has the shortcut of using all scholarships (and the usual work around) for recruiting distance?
Dunn actually won a cross country ACC title at UVA. Lananna is old and will never get it done. Getting 4th place is great for Lananna as a coach. He’s not a very good coach
When you get individual conference champ over big-time competition, and you developed the guy, you have to get credit, just as Gibby has over Blanks, even if the rest of the team has not developed very well since their strong freshman year, which is the case for Martin's class. They may still show up better as a team at regionals this year.
I saw Vin eat sh!t walking at indoor NCAAs last year. I know he’s such a dirtbag so it’s hard to feel bad for him.
When he was at Stanford, he used to offer kids who couldn't get in academically, to force Oregon to pay more for their scholarships. Ruthless and just not focused on kids well-being.
When you work with Vin you hate the man. He will stab anyone in the back for his gains. I think he’s a coach of the past and too old to connect with kids these days. He was fired from both Stanford and Oregon for shady dealing.
Vin is not liked for the way he treats people.

This couldn’t be further from the truth. I worked with Vin, and I still consider him a mentor. He has been a positive influence on my career and life. Many people would say the same.
None of your slander can change the fact that Vin is still one of the most successful and respected coaches in the country. While you cope and seethe, Vin continues to win.

He has a huge contract at uva and teams bombed at nationals on home course at nationals. For what he’s paid he should start winning consistently by now.

Vin is not a spring chicken anymore and lost his coaching touch. He was only good when 13:40 was fast. UVA is not very impressive.
You just keep racking up L's here. UVA wins the Southeast Regional.
Unlike 99% of the idiots that post on this site I actually know Vin, have worked on NCAA committee's with him, and feel I can be more neutral in assessing him. And I have no problem saying that he is not my friend. Vin is a genius when it comes to thinking outside the box. While I didn't appreciate his methods sometimes, he was so much farther ahead than other coaches it was ridiculous. I know he would become frustrated with the NCAA DI coaching body given the lack of lets say "intelligence" of the body. We have way too many coaches that simply don't think well and don't focus on what the data actually informs us. Does Vin go at things hard? Yes. And that can be misinterpreted by many. Does he recruit harder than many many others? No, I have recruited against almost every DI coach in the country and Vin is way more honest than most. Not even close. Boy could I give you a list of lying pieces of crap who are world-class cheaters. He did not get fired by either Stanford or Oregon so stop that crap. Vin has done more for the sport of track & field than just about anyone in the country. I'd love to see the resume of folks on this site criticizing him - bet most have done nothing in their life to positively impact the sport.
I thought Lauren Fleshman gave a good look at Lananna in her book -- the guy who tried to get her to sign for little or no money. And the guy who gave her great advice when she crossed paths with Salazar.
Congrats to Lananna for his 21st place finish. That’s some amazing development. He was so close to that podium he can smell it
Vin Lananna is old and past his prime. He’s one the biggest scum bags in the sport. I didn’t think it was possible but his team bombed again at NCAA’s.

Last year on their home course Vin said “the were over stimulated”
Now this year they did worse as a team. What happened to the National Championship Lananna is telling all his recruits about.
UVA finishes 21st. Vin Lananna it’s time to retire.
UVA is not any better than they have been before Lananna got fired from Oregon and took the job at UVA.
The men got 21st place not exactly improving much.
