This is going to happen again and again to the people who ran and PRed at Austin. They think they can go as fast as they did at Austin on a legit course when in reality they can't even come close. They will crash and burn. An austin PR is a curse that will hang over their heads for life. They will never PR again unless they run Austin.
Does this board go out of its way to continually attempt to top itself with naive bs from 19 year old never will be's?
If so the board is doing an excellent service.
Well done!!

i hope he does it and shuts up all the bitchers about his Austin time.
Looks like we'll still have to go with the notion that the course was unfairly fast, no?
ooo,
Have you ever run 24 miles at 5:12 pace?
How about 13.1?
How about 5?
ass hat. keep the bashing to yourself.

Wish we were still doing this. Well, we never really doing this, but wish we were close.

I wouldn't say it's written in stone, but it seems that was the race mentality today, in which case I feel bad for them making that assumption.
you sir, are a jack ass. i'd like to see you do an iota of what Casey has done. maybe you could tell him at the trials...oh wait, doubt you'll be there

What a day for the Americans. Five guys in the top 10. When was the laat time any international marathon had 5 Americans in the Top 5???? Its been a long time.
I wonder where the Americans would have finished in - lets say the Rotterdam marathon for instance?

With all do respect, Austin was only 2-months ago. It's not the easiest thing to run a PR & then do it again that soon.
How come on the boston home page it lists prize money for the top 8, except meb?
Boston is not a legit course as well.
agreed...who is this mystery qualifier?
thanks for the updates guys, well done.
I probably would be but some guy in Ypsilanti stole my belt. It changed my life.
We'll have to get together again for the great lakes relay at some point. Actually, that would be a great reunion-type event... maybe 2007?
Agreed.
Maybe it wasn't the smartest thing to do -- i.e., run Austin in February and Boston in April. But I'm still amazed he could make it through 24 at that kind of pace after running as fast as he did in Austin two months ago.
My hat's off to him.
