Good for those gals. We should all be lucky to have loyal friends who stick with us when something bad happens to us. A bunch of you sound like fair weather friends. The worst kind.
Well back then, some naive friends might have believed her ridonculous burrito excuse. Now that all the glory details are out, no one believes that anymore, not even long time USADA CEO Travis Tygart (among other problems, too much nandro for even five burritos, and it was synthetic nandro on top of that). Even Professor Tucker's expert report - though being paid by letsrun which wanted to clear her - makes that very clear.
So those who still "support" her, must have other reasons than to believe she's innocent, such as the ones mentioned here in this thread (they don't want her to tell the true story, obviously).
Honestly, isn’t this about what you’d expect if, as insiders who know the game better than the rest of us, they acknowledge that everyone dopes and one of their friends was just unfortunate enough to get caught, which could have been any one of them instead? Through a family friend who played a few years in the NFL, I’ve gotten to meet a number of NFL and college ballers from the 90s, who all say everyone was on steroids and no one judged each other for it, it was just what you had to do to get on the field. If someone got caught and punished, which was rare but not unheard of in that era, they would just acknowledge that the player was unlucky, and the player wouldn’t blame the others for saying they’d never take roids themselves. All part of the song and dance of trying to make it in football. This little vacay could tell us more about pro running than meets the eye.
Back from vacay in Mexico or was it a working vacation?
I hope border patrol checked their bags to look for hidden burritos. If I'm not mistaken, Mexico is a great place to get the cheapest burritos. But then again, Nike probably had their own chef prepare the burritos for their athletes.
I am not telling you not to hate on dopers. But it seems like people are specifically fixated on Shelby and take joy in these threads...
So yes, I am curious why some people only seem to care about one specific doper. There are 50 busts every year and yet Shelby gets about 90% of the hate on this site (regarding doping).
But you need to answer the question. I think the type of friends you have in real life shapes how you understand the concept and nature of friendship in general.
If you don't have friends that you love and care about almost as if they were family, then that explains why you can't imagine going to bat for them if they came to you, tears in their eyes, and said, "man, I didn't do it. I am getting screwed."
Obviously, if you don't have true friends (just buddies), then this will make no sense.
p.s. I don't know Shelby or the other women in this photo, so I don't really know the nature of their friendships. Maybe they are just "teammates" but there is also the real, non-zero chance that they do love and care about each other. As an outsider, I have no idea.

Don't come on here and tell us we should not hate on a doper. Dopers ruined our sport.

People hate on Shelby because of the way she handled the doping case and the fall out.
If she just admitted she doped, did the time, paid back her winnings to the appropriate runners, didn't BEG for money with a GoFundMe and just retired from the sport people would take things differently.
She was also a hugely popular American runner and one of our best. People are going to be passionate about that instead of Random Kenyan who got busted with a name no one can pronounce who ran 2:22 in the marathon in Berlin and got 7th.

If you don't have friends that you love and care about like family then that explains why you can't imagine going to bat for them if they came to you, tears in their eyes, and said, "man, I didn't do it. I am getting screwed."

I disagree. I have friends that I care about like you said. But, not believing their nonsense because of all the facts doesn't mean I am a bad friend. Instead, it means I can distinguish between friendship and facts.
OK, that's admittedly hypothetically, as none of my true friends have ever lied to me like that. I would actually suggest that you are not a true friend if you lie like Shelby did (assuming their "friends" don't know the truth).
As I scrolled through i knew eventually I'd hit an ass shot, chicks can't resist posting a beach thong bikini shot in 2024 - I saw it coming. Kind of sad they were lacking the confidence to post a more close-up one, opting for a 100 yard range shot as they stood by the waters.
Yes, I agree with you and I upvoted your post. If Shelby knows she did it, and then lies, she is a terrible friend. That is obvious.
I am operating that she somehow does actually believe she is innocent or was spiked or something happened with the testing.
If she knows she did it, then she's a pathological liar. But those kind of people are rare psychopaths. I think she does believe she is innocent, which is why it is so impossible for her to just "admit it."
