Jonathan Gault previews Thursday's meet which is the brainchild of Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian and features women's only fields, Olympic champions in 4 of its 6 fields, the largest prize purses in the sport and rapper Megan Thee Stallion.
Yeah, additionally, the outdoor T&F season is over! The weather will be cool, at best, not great for any of the sprints. Outside of LRC, not one peep from any media source about the races. Later, when it fails, they will blame everyone but themselves for the lack of marketing strategy.
Basically the same issue that plagues the NYC Continental GP (although it was almost sold out this year).
After digging into their Instagram posts, I found that it will be streamed FREE on Youtube starting at 7:30 PM. Great news!! No idea on the schedule, still.
I really hope it succeeds in bringing more eyes to the sport, getting high viewership, and gives us fast and exciting races.
That said, I'm on their website and there is no schedule or information on TV or streaming (if there even is any).
This is basic information we really need 2 days out.

What are you talking about? They have a media strategy. They had Alexis Ohanian on CBS morning's shows promoting this earlier in the summer.
They currently have an ad in Time Square for the meet.
And they are having a photo shoot in Times Square tmw to generate more buzz.

Good to hear. I don't watch any of the morning shows and not aware of what goes on in TS. TS is super congested and getting to Randall's Island is easy for Manhattanites, so I hope they get a good crowd.

Getting to Randall's Island is assuredly not easy. No subway, so a bus that gets very crowded and picks up at East Harlem. Citibike is an option potentially, but dicey with parking. Ultimately Uber/Lyft necessarily has to be the preferred option for many people who don't have a car. It looks like they are building a pedestrian bridge that goes to the part of the Island closer to the stadium, which could be nice in the future. Not sure how many people would want to use that at night though.
I really hope it succeeds as well, but there's no question that the location isn't the best, which seems to be a problem that plagues most outdoor tracks in the USA.
This meet is way too late in the year to gain traction - we're now in XC season. Also not clear if there will be a broadcast to watch? I guess they hope the fans will stumble upon the coverage by accident. NCAA championships format with men's and women's competition on separate days has been well received. Eliminating men's competition entirely is likely counterproductive. It's all track & field whether men or women are competing. The sport has so many events to follow - if the goal is to draw as many fans as possible then divide and conquer does not seem like a useful strategy.

The pedestrian bridge is open and is at 103rd street (east side). Once you cross the bridge, the stadium is right there. Easy to Uber to there.

as what are you doing? Don't you have all your mornings free for TV watching after you see your wife go off to work? I am so disappointed in you people; we really need some REAL commitment to the dubya lifestyle and I am leading by example.

I like the NCAA format too.
Personally I feel separating the ladies out (sometimes) is good for the sport. Sole focus on them heightens their achievements. When the men and women are mixed, one can fall into the trap of comparing the times/heights/distances and the they just don't compare. But stand-alone events can eliminate that and the spectators can just enjoy the competition.
That's why I'm not a fan of the mixed events in track, swimming and triathlons, the obvious difference is just unavoidable. But watching the ladies battle it out amongst themselves, then it's just pure competition, good stuff.
Track even tries to hide that disparity it the mixed relays by mandating which legs the men and women run.
