It's funny how you persist on your dumb analyses and conclusions.
So he isn't 6 minutes off on one of the records says he intends to take? And how close is he to the 5k and 10k records?
5:46 minutes over the WR at the time. What's your exact problem with that? Currently he is a middle/long distance runner, no HM runner. In maybe 8-10 years (age 32 - 34) he might become a HM/Marathon runner who maybe will have a shot at the WR, we have to wait and see.
His first try at the HM distance (21.097m) was 36 hours after he has won the DL 1500m final. He started way too fast for him and followed the leaders - he suffered badly but still got a 10k NR and curagously finished.

And now?
So more excuses as to why he isn't even in the picture for his "best distance". That's all you fans ever come up with.
He "planned" to walk after a "sprint" at the 10k mark in a HM? You are as ludicrous as ever.
I think you are being ridiculed in this thread very unfairly… But first of all: It’s extremely difficult to know what went on in Jakob’s mind -the post interviews don’t give decisive information. So his plan might f.x been to both set a National record in the 10k and to beat the half record (59.46), or even to hang and beat Kiplimo and Sawe by a kick.
I also think there’s a lot of reasons why Jakob now and then hits the wall - a lot of posters here seem to underestimate his competitive nature, that easily clouds his judgement severely. -It’s so important for him to be good and to win that his feelings and hopes may make him fail grossly.
These arguments count for nothing until he either breaks these records or comes close. He hasn't. It's just whistling into the wind.
If you’re not willing/able to deal in hypotheticals, why are you posting on an internet running forum.
Of course: He hasn’t broken the [fill in blank] record until he has broken it.
But arguing about would/could/should is what internet fam forums are all about. Your posts are nothing we can’t find on Wikipedia or the IAAF page.
I'm not the one getting enraged at suggestions Ingebrigtsen is unlikely to get the 5k record. Or 10k or HM records. Most here think these achievements are a foregone conclusion. They aren't. He hasn't shown any convincing sign he will get the distance records.
