Tough go for Fahnbulleh. Always rooted for the guy since he ran this 600m match race as a HS senior pre covid -- something straight off the message boards here haha
Sport is not about "producing many WRs", it's about competition! I've been a devout fan of T&F since 1993.
All I said was that the races held after the Olympics are anti-climactic, which is when Jakob tends to do his best.
Yall have become so quick to be offended by literally any take differing from the voice in your own head.
I think Rooks stunk today because he peaked for the NCAA, then again for the US Trials and Olympics. He's only running now for appearance money because he's a professional and that's what he's got to do; do you even follow track?
Finally, I get the win. I think this is my first win over Wanyonyi since last year at the World champs, so it was a good race today. Fast track and amazing atmosphere. I managed to run fast - just wanted to see how fast I could go. Pacing was perfect, I stayed in lane 1 this time so that kind of helps a little bit. I am just glad I am able to step on the line and to be able to compete. After the Olympics, I was gathering myself and was ready to race again. It was not that hard, I ran the best race of my life and even thought that I could not win in Paris, I keep my head up and I know I gave it my all. I am going to do 1km in Zagreb and I want to try to break the world record and will be back in Brussels for the Diamond League final. The world record, it is definitelly going to go. I think in Brussels. Honestly, all three of us (Sedjati and Wanyonyi) could win the race. It is very possible. So it is very exciting to be a part of the 800m.

Rooks should not have peaked for NCAAs this spring. That was a big strategic mistake.

Zagreb is on 8 September then Brussels men's 800 is the 14th. I've been wondering if Wanyonyi would try a 1500 this season but I'm starting to think he'll go back to Kenya and focus just on the DL final now

tf are you going on about? he got 2nd at the Olympics ffs
what is wrong with you people? does this board place more emphasis on the DL events that follow the Olympics than the actual Olympics themselves
has Rojo successfully turned the whole lot of you into npcs?
fml there is literally nowhere left to have a reasonable convo about running

Yeah I was honestly a tad surprised they didn’t send him home after the 1:41.11. Likely a huge payday to pass up though with Sedjati pulling out. But now I think they want to keep that World Record in Kenya first and foremost. So I think he takes that DL final incredibly seriously, and hopes Arop is a little more scattered in his prep.

But why did he peak for NCAAs?
Rooks didn't peak for NCAAs this spring because he went pro in January this year. The announcer was wrong about the NCAA race and USA champs fall (that happened in 2023, not this year). So no, Rooks didn't peak for NCAAs. Do y'all even follow track.

Agreed, we'll see what happens with Sedjati too...
I believe the DL final is still giving out Worlds wildcards? Would be huge for Kenya to get 4 in Tokyo next year so you've got to imagine Kinyamal, Cheminingwa, Ngeno, etc. will be really hoping Wanyonyi wins
