Any “sport” that requires judges to determine who wins. I don't consider them real sports. Gymnastics, figure skating, diving, breakdancing are all such sports. I’m not saying they don't require athletic skill, they are just not real sports, and thus a bore to watch.
judging is fine as long it is not corrupt, a tough task, but certainly doable. you think watching Shaun White in a half pipe is a bore? does the judges not giving mckayla maroney's vault a perfect score take away any of the excitement of watching human vaulting perfection?
the only reel sport is fishing! what do you say makes a real sport? lack of judges? boxing has judges. that is the realest sport there is, physical combatants! bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering? nay hemingway. a real sport is one that involves a competitor trying to stop you from doing something. so running events with competitors each remaining in their own lane for the entire duration? now that is gray area. more of an athletic performance, such as the sports you mentioned.
Which Olympic sport would you literally have to be paid to watch? Apparently the least favourite sport is race walking followed closely by equestrian. I personally think they should introduce horse race walking. I’d pay to watch that.
For everyone not on this board id have to go with Track and Field or as noted in the Olympics Athletics.
People who don't like competitive sports are the same people who think everyone should win a trophy for participating. Well, I'm here to tell you competition makes the world go around. Look what happened to Sears, K-mart, Wards. They did not think winning was important. Now look at them.
Does anyone know why Mens soccer is U23 and Womens soccer is not? Seems inconsistent.
Because top pros in women's soccer want to play in the Olympics, and women's soccer needs any opportunity for more exposure. Men's soccer already has more than enough exposure (except in the US).
Exposure would help women's soccer. It needs to take a cue from that player who tore off her jersey at the 1999 Women's World Cup. Last time I paid attention to wmen's soccer!
100 or 200 sprint. Men or women. 10 minutes or posturing followed by 10 or 20 seconds of actual running followed by 10 minutes of posturing.
Followed by weeks, months or years of prattle. It's a problem with T&F in general that, except for the 10,000 and Marathon, the event lasts between 10 seconds and 15 minutes, and then everyone just starts gabbing about what's gonna happen next.

In the case of Sears, their CEO thought that the employees should compete WITHIN their stores instead of competing with other stores.

I like judged sports when they're judged like skateboarding or snowboarding, where the judging benefits new, cool tricks, and doesn't penalize mistakes so intensely that it detracts from fun and innovation. These are sports that exist beyond the usual championship framework.
Gymnastics and Figure Skating and the like are creepy patriarchal dominance fantasies that are hard to watch. It's like the Olympics took over their sport and everyone is trying to look good for daddy.
any sport with a referee or umpire is essentially judged. sure they aren’t scoring but they decide what is and isn’t fair and oftentimes the rules aren’t clear cut.
You get week long debates about a fair catch or pass interference or a penalty because it comes down to a judgment call.

They decide whether a jumper or a thrower fouled, whether a sprinter false started or stepped over the line, or whether relay members passed the baton outside of the zone.
