Next Man Up
Wait, what doorbell?
- M. Farah
Eh. What do you mean? If it is whether the quote itself is awful or the circumstances of quotation are awful ... I'd go with this for the latter:
"A customer is the most important visitor on our premises. He is not dependent on us. We are dependent on him. He is not an interruption in our work. He is the purpose of it."
If you're interested in serving your customer, the quote itself is fine.
But if someone thinks Gandhi said it, they're a f*****g moran.
Or were you just fishing for running-related quotes?
The quote is invalid because in practice its not dependable nor realistic. That's not how it works. It's a misleading quote to believe if you speak up for those who may be your political enemy, that they will reciprocate when you're on the chopping block. Especially the specific groups listed. Especially today, when liberals throw this quote at conservatives to play to their naïve sense of even handedness and principle. Stupid conservatives think they're going to get the favor in return, and low and behold they NEVER do. Liberals will cut your throat after they played meek and in need of your justice for them, and you dont crush them.
"This has to go through the proper channels"
-This means they control the channels and they dont want anything to change
The suggestion of this quotation is that you need people to speak up for you. So, you better speak out for your political enemy's rights, or they wont be left to speak up for you. Except when they ARE still around, they actually wont give back to you. Liberals pull this trick with gullible conservatives ALL THE TIME. Anyone who doesn't think so is not only a corny sentimental dimwit, but they are absolutely inept and mistakenly see this quote as something to rely on.
The reality IS MORE LIKE THIS
“When I am Weaker Thn You, I ask you for Freedom because that is according to your principles. When I am Stronger than you, I take away your Freedom Because that is according to my principles.”
― Frank Herbert, Children of Dune
LOL Thats the MAIN implication of the quote. The ENTIRE phony message makes that claim - fraudulently, and misleadingly.
"no one left to speak up for me" suggests you should expect they will speak for you, if you save their asses now by you speaking up for them.
And it ain't what it ain't.
"hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard" dumbest quote ever.
"It's a misleading quote to believe if you speak up for those who may be
your political enemy, that they will reciprocate when you're on the
Again, not what the quote is saying, but if it did, what's wrong with doing something to help someone without expecting anything in return? I'd assume you're some sophomore that thinks they're clever, but you seem to have the same selfish, transactional view of human behavior as Trump, so maybe you're some boomer magat.
^^^ And this is why American politics is so philosophically empty ^^^
Consider Vaclav Havel in The Power of the Powerless. He writes that it wasn't an opposing political group that inspired resistance in Czechoslovakia. Rather, it was the prosecution of a terrible and unimportant wanna-be rock band, The Plastic People of the Universe. They didn't resist as political protest; rather, these were "unknown young people who wanted no more than to be able to live within the truth, to play the music they enjoyed, to sing songs that were relevant to their lives, and to live freely in dignity and partnership."
Did Havel and other members of the resistance support them because they counted on mutual support in turn? Of course not. That misses the whole point of what resistance meant. They supported because it was the human thing to do, and that is the only way to resist an inhuman governmental or cultural structure.
"Many groups of differing tendencies which until then had remained isolated from each other, reluctant to cooperate, or which were committed to forms of action that made cooperation difficult, were suddenly struck with the powerful realization that freedom is indivisible. Everyone understood that an attack on the Czech musical underground was an attack on a most elementary and important thing, something that in fact bound everyone together: it was an attack on the very notion of living within the truth, on the real aims of life. The freedom to play rock music was understood as a human freedom and thus as essentially the same as the freedom to engage in philosophical and political reflection, the freedom to write, the freedom to express and defend the various social and political interests of society."
Most relevant to your reading of the Niemöller quote:
"People were inspired to feel a genuine sense of solidarity with the young musicians and they came to realize that not standing up for the freedom of others, regardless of how remote their means of creativity or their attitude to life, meant surrendering ones own freedom."
‘If you’re not a liberal when you’re 25, you have no heart. If you’re not a conservative by the time you’re 35, you have no brain.’
Because the quote itself suggest you will get reciprocation if you speak out for left wing enemies-- you absolutely dense nitwit.
"There was no one left to speak for me" = if you want others to speak up for you, you have to speak up for them, fight for them, so they will be there for you. That's the false implication.
lol I'm a boomer? The quote is one of the MOST boomer conservative takes there is, and you defend it.
It's why disgusting liberals win all the time
"the quote is one of the MOST boomer conservative takes there is,"
Not defending the quote, just pointing out your complete misrepresentation of what it means. Of course, if you think it is a conservative take, that explains your illogical take on things.
Hey stupid. The quote I posted by Niemoller DOES tell you to count on mutual support.
Thats why it sucks as a quote.
Yours is a boomer take on the quote. Your take is how a typical boomer conservative reacts to it, like it's profound and trustworthy. Liberals in their trickery throw it at dumbfck boomer cons so they'll go the full nine yards to speak out for liberals, and when its time for libs to "be left to speak for conservatives" the liberals basically push them down a flight of stairs. If you're not a conservative, then you're a liberal trying to promote this lie of a quote, and in that case you KNOW how it works and you dont want the scheme to run out.
"forget it... it's Chinatown"
What doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger.
"Can't we all just get along?" -- Rodney King
King was making a sincere plea for racial reconciliation and was mercilessly mocked for his attempt. Moreover, he never said the quote as it is often repeated. What he *actually* said was "*Can* we all get along?" (emphasis mine)
Here's the full quote:
“I brought my own facts.” - conservatives
"I see the disinfectant that knocks it out in a minute, one minute. And is there a way we can do something like that by injection inside or almost a cleaning? As you see, it gets in the lungs, it does a tremendous number on the lungs, so it would be interesting to check that." trump
