A fine run by the 39 year-old realtor and mother of two. Mixed it up with the east Africans, competitive into the later stages, and the only non-east African finisher in the top 10.
Does it make sense to anyone that D'Amato is running faster than ever at 39 years old and is one of the top 5 fastest American women? We've accused East Africans for far less.
Yes, it makes sense. She was an elite collegiate runner, had to shut it down for a number of years, but took it back sensibly and steadily in her early-mid 30s, has an extremely intelligent and patient approach to her training and lifestyle, doesn't take herself too seriously, and loves running and the running community. She's having fun and is happy for everyone who performs well, even when they finish ahead of herself.

You should stop drinking the Kool Aid. The poster above raises a valid point. Sus as hell.

What's more, she helps old ladies across the road!
Keep in mind, she competed in college on a compromised left rearfoot due to a congenital tarsal coalition which ended up shutting her down completely and ultimately required surgical resection to allow her to return to competitive running.

Next you are going to tell me that all those ripped and toned 40 year old guys on my social media feeds are natty
The usual pure speculation. I assume she is subject to drug testing. She has a business that likely makes more money than her running so her reputation matters. I have no clue or dog in the hunt. Can you let me know any runner who posts decent times that could pass your scrutiny. Move the F on and call me when you “know” anything.

Nah. The crooks she's running against dont have to worry about OOC testing. She does.
Canada's top two fastest female marathon runners are over 40, PR'ed in their 40s, and took time off earlier in their careers as well (Natasha Wodak, 41 and Malindi Elmore, 43) I know they are not as fast as Keira, but I think this shows that woman can peak when older in the further distances.
Most of the runners in the women's field, including most of the best, are still Americans. These were and are the very best of the US college women in the country, from which our Olympians and national record holders emerge.
D'Amato stated that she has "nothing to lose" and has a lot of freedom "to take risks". Not the kind of words you want to hear from a 39 year old American record holder.
On her return to competitive running, D'Amato stated, "I feel like I have nothing to lose. I have another life outside of this, which is very important to me. And I feel that gives me a lot of freedom to take risks and not be afraid of failing. ...
Not 18 years ago when most the runners were Americans.
She beat Molly Huddle, Shannon Rowbury, Amy Cragg and Jenny Simpson.
What year is this? None of those names are even relevant anymore at the elite level and yet here you have D'Amato setting the American half marathon record this year at 39 years old.
