The thing about Trump is that not many voters actually like him. But ... they like the idea of him winning. In some cases, they find it funny. It's like "The enemy of my enemy is my friend" kind of thing. For example, they hate the mainstream media, which hates Trump. There are probably a good number of swing state voters who fall into the category of
(1) Voted for Trump in 2016 because they really, really didn't like Hillary, and may have liked a lot of Trump's platform even if they didn't really like him overall.
(2) Voted for Biden in 2020 because they didn't like Trump's governance and felt that somehow COVID-19 could've been handled better. They are Obama voters who thought of Biden as "Obama's VP" and a moderate, so he could re-normalize things and we wouldn't have this toxic division that started when Trump came around.
(3) Leaning towards Trump for 2024 because they feel Biden is very bad on the economy and they kinda like the idea of seeing Trump re-elected just to prove that it could be done.
