Virginia native here who has been considering making the drive with my wife to Panorama Farms to see the big meet tomorrow. The current forecast does not look good and the governor just declared a state of emergency…I’m probably not going at this point, but I’m wondering if the meet will even happen?
A bit of an aside: I raced at Panorama in 2017 when I was running for William and Mary and back then, parts of the course did not drain well and could get very muddy just from hordes of runners racing on the damp ground. So, it could be muddy, slip-and-slide XC tomorrow (which would be awesome IMO) if the thing still happens. May affect the results quite a bit.
Is this UVA meet going to happen?

I too, thought about going but was not sure how easy it would be to watch?

From what I understand, the new course is pretty spectator friendly. A lot of looping back on sections of the course

It's definitely going to happen as long as no lightening in the area. Going to be a brutal mud fest for sure. Not going to get a good gauge on the teams in these conditions.

the start time is very early, if they're lucky they'll finish before the downpour arrives, otherwise it'll be a mud run.

Friday afternoon was never the issue. The tropical storm is going to mean Saturday morning running conditions of 15 mph winds along with the rain.

I'm not going to watch this in person. Charlottesville is a podunk college town without a major international airport. Hard to drive to! The hotels are expensive and the weather is looking sketchy. I can't understand why UVA wouldn't hold this in Washington, DC? They could put a flat fast course on The National Mall and I wouldn't have to rent a car. Two airports, loads of hotels, etc. Boy, Lananna really blew this one.
