Since Fisher got injured and couldn't compete at worlds he ended up coming back late in the season and having some extremely solid results. Wouldn't it make sense to leverage this fitness into running the 5k road championship?
Yes he should’ve in my view but I understand ending the season on a high note. Would it be that much fun to extend the season only to see Kejelcha distance himself on you again?
I don't see why not. He's obviously not tired from Diamond League and Worlds racing.
I love this upcoming road race championship. Hopefully it comes to the US soon.
yeah cause it's been so popular hosting events in Eugene so far..
Then maybe don't hold it in Eugene? If European meets were held in some backwater small College town that is impossible to get to and has no accommodations, attendance would suck too. Could easily throw this into NYC, maybe even combine with the 5th Ave Mile since that seems to do well

As a fan that would be cool for Fisher to race roads WC.
From a practical stand point, he managed to avoid a major injury (stress fracture) and manage through a tough injury ( stress reaction to his femoral tip), come back and have three successful races with no side effects. Therefore, why get greedy. Finish on a high note, refresh his body and mind, assess what went right and what went wrong, build a plan based on that understanding, and get ready for the Olympics in July.

Note: road WC is in San Diego next.
That's great. Where did you see that? I looked on the WA site but couldn't find anything.

I love this event.
In runners world article this August. Max Seigal quoted (but don’t look to USATF website for much of any forward dates on world events.
2025 San Diego
2026 Copenhagen
Guessing Olympic year doesn’t have a road WC but maybe it does
Of course he should. He could claim a podium place and let's face it, he needs to take all the chances he can, he's not talented enough to be able to pick and choose like Jakob and Cheptegei. That's not throwing shade, the same applies to most athletes such as Aregawi and Kejelcha. Look at his ex teammate, Marc Scott. He took a shot at World Indoors and came away with a medal in the 3k. It's a competitive field in Riga so a medal would have some kudos.

"some backwater small college town". ya, university of oregon.

I think he is saying the town is small, not the college. Its a college town, bad accommodations, not easy to get to.
I think you should have to have run a road race in the past year to qualify for a road running championship. Sure, he would likely beat everyone we're sending, but the idea of giving someone a spot without competing in that event is a slippery slope. Everyone who qualified has run a road mile, or road 5k like BAA 5k or USATF 5k or some other race. Grant has been 100% on the track the past year. The purpose of the road championships is to help grow the road racing scene, he's not doing that.
He said after pre that be wants to take down time at the same point he usually would so he could have a completely normal build up towards the olympics like he would have without the injury which i think is pretty smart. The 5k and 3ks were really nice surprises after we’d mostly assumed we’d see the last of him this year, no need to get greedy now. Would rather see him fully prepped for paris
