As the ladies were down in the blocks you could see their numbers blowing in the wind, their hair blowing in the wind, ths was windy and how it was allowed is ridiculous. Flo Jo was no 10.4 sprinter
That makes no sense. If their numbers were blowing, that means they had a HEADWIND.

Winds gust they swirl, apparently you have no wind chimes or little wind mills, if ya did you;d know this.
Are you thinking no that race wasn't wind aided?

Stands to reason she was also capable of 10.49 with legal wind.
10.49 0.0 is 10.49 basic. Her next best two performances EVER were 10.62 +1.0 (10.68 basic) and 10.61 +1.2 (10.69 basic). She has a 10.54 to her name but she did that in +3.0 wind (10.70) basic. At her best, she was about a 10.69 basic runner. Excellent, but that's TWO TENTHS off what she ran on that very windy July 16th.
Guess what her 10.49 with a +4.0 would have worked back to? 10.71 basic. THAT is who she was when she was in that "magical" 3 month stretch.
Same. Especially if it’s going to be an even more obvious juicer (Jackson, SAFP, Richardson or ETG) is going to be the one to break it. Even more so for Jackson and SAFP. SAFP is faster now than almost 15 years ago. While Jackson makes Jeter look like she never lifted a day in her life lol.

My thoughts exactly. Seeing any of them take it doesn’t feel right. I feel like it’s taboo or something to say it.
I’m with you. I definitely don’t want to see Shelly-Ann “I magically got better in my mid 30’s” Fraser-Pryce or Shericka “I improved my 200 time by over ONE SECOND since turning 23” Jackson break Flo Jo’s records.
the hypocrisy here is priceless. Hinting of Shelly and Sherricka getting help but ignoring the fact that Flo Jo was a known doper. And Armstrong (in this case) was spot on. Flo Jo went from good runner to all-time great, then disappeared. At least Shelly and Sherricka have been great for extended periods of time.
How was she a known doper? Did she ever say she doped? Did she ever test positive? No, she didn’t. You have no evidence. Stop smearing her good name.
Yeah Indy 88 OT was wildly windy and we all know it. The men's TJ had +4/+5 wind readings same time as the women's 100. The previous and subsequent 100m races were windy. So the wind dropped to 0.0 for about 30 seconds for FloJo while the TJ runway next to the track experienced storm force gusts....yeah... the real question is not "Did the wind gauge malfunction?" but "Why did it malfunction selectively at that moment and not for all the other events?"
Same year as Evagelisti's "8.54" LJ which turned out to be what... 7.98.... IAAF/USATF doing their best to hype up local stars...

Whether you think the wind was a tailwind or a headwind, either way it means that the 0.0 wind reading was wrong and that the instrument didn't work properly during FloJo's race.
And since the 0.0 wind reading was wrong, it means that FloJo's 10.49 should have never been ratified as the world record.
Well people with more knowledge of the situation than us ratified the record. It’s been the record for 35 years. But fine, say it was illegal wind. Even if it was wind assisted, it’s still faster than ANY other wind assisted time. It’s the fastest any condition time.
And her 200m record was the one in jeopardy that I was worried about anyway. Do not want to see any of these runners on the Jamaican juice take it.
They’ve always held a sort of mythical status for me. I’m glad another season has safely passed without a Jamaican taking them. Now that this season is in the books, I’m feeling good about them not being threatened again for awhile.
Don't care about the conspiracy theories on these records. They still hold a legendary place.
Wind or not, FloJo used to run 49 second 400m reps in practice. That alone should say everything about the legitimacy of her records.

There is a lot of truth to this. I would want this record to pass to another American. I just don't trust whatever they're doing in Jamaica.
Jamaica is in the Americas. Parts of USA are not in the Americas.

If someone says they’re American, no one is going to ask if they’re from the Jamaican (or any other country) part of America. Because no other country gets to be synonymous with the continent. I think you know that.

No, they actually had less knowledge. If they had more knowledge then they wouldn't have ratified the record.
Hilarious! Imagine thinking that keyboard warriors who weren’t there know more about a race that happened 35 years ago than the people who were there at that time and whose job it was to ratify the record.
