He’s been a sea level guy his whole ljfe. To get to that next level, he should move to flagstaff,boulder, etc if he wants to make that next jump. As of he now he is talented enough to make world championship finals without it. But if he wants to be able to kick off of 3:30 pace, he needs to get out of Eugene and train in an altitude environment.
I agree. His coach isn't even in Oregon anymore and his training partners aren't good, so he can really go anywhere. Need Cooper Teare and Hocker to link up again, idk if BTC is the right fit for him either

Centro got bronze at worlds at 21 years old and Hocker got 7th at worlds at 22 years old

Who is he supposed to train with? Mike Smith Elite is having some 1500 success with Hiltz, but I don't think Hocker would really have any training partners if he went there. BTC seems to waste 1500 talent. I wish he could go to OAC, but On probably wouldn't like it. Who else is there?

The truth of your last statement is open to debate. Cole only knows what he has done so far. He has acknowledged that he is considering other training set ups and locations.
I'm not sure whether he was faster than Nuguse at age 22 means much. They were in different environments and different stages of life with different demands. Nuguse was studying biochem at honors level at ND, and also was injured that year. Better to compare them after they both have been professional for a couple more years. At that point, who is better may flip. Or Nuguse may be in dental school and Cole may be looking for his second career.

If I understand On Running's team philosophy correctly, they wouldn't take Cole because they only want one per event from a given country. With Yared at On, Cole doesn't have a spot.
Most world class runners outside USA and East Africa don't train in groups. It works for them.
