My parents bought me a $600K condo in East New York so I can be closer to my activism (and so I don't get beat down daily walking to my finger painting studio). I'm one of the good ones.
It's really amazing that you spent so much time posting something so profoundly unfunny. I'd say it was a waste of time, but I'm sure your time is worthless.

I think for most upstate NYers, everything east of Oneonta and south of Albany is considered "downstate" and basically in a different state altogether. Downstaters literally are a different breed. I don't know how to describe it but I feel I have more in common with northern Pennsylvanians or even Ohioans than Downstate NYers. And it's not just about politics, either.
I'd like to get a thread started about the different towns / cities in NY. I'll go first - Chautauqua NY. This is a region along lake Erie that is similar to some of the bigger towns on the finger lakes. Snow is our second language. We have a kick-ass lake as well.
Outside of Binghamton on the Pennsylbama border. Endwell is my town.
Noplace in New York is significant other than New York City. Not even Buffalo. All anyone knows about Buffalo is there's an NFL team.
If you don't live in NYC, what are you even doing in that state? I bet there's crazy high taxes and prices.
I am only here because of roots. some people freely move on from them, others don't. house prices used to be a draw, but seems the last few years we are catching up to the rest of the world there as well.

Kind of funny, just this morning another teacher and I were talking about people like you.
It's actually school taxes that are high- because we invest in education and obviously you didn't take advantage of the opportunity.
Prices are no higher than anywhere else and where I live they're lower than where many of my friends live.
I have a number of friends (and a son) who are talking about selling their house (out of state) and paying cash for a bigger house here.
My brother is looking at doing the same, but then he realizes the 1500 per year taxes on his 500k house will be 12,000 per year taxes on a 400k house here.
“New York State has ranked first nationally in school district spending per pupil for 15 straight years, a reflection of the state’s longstanding commitment to provide all students with the opportunity to excel as learners, w...
Despite being a national leader in educational spending, New York ranks in the middle of the pack in reading scores among 52 jurisdictions (the 50 states plus Washington, D.C., and Department of Defense schools). New York’s fourth-grade student reading scores were not significantly different from those of students in 39 jurisdictions and better than those of four. In eighth grade, New York is roughly tied with 32 states and ahead of 16.

The funniest part of that post was living in the Roosevelt Hotel. That and “Jac Biden” being a great man. News reports make NYC seem pretty chaotic.
