Nonsense. He was tired today, as he said. He closed the last 3k of his 2M WR in 7:21.
Well if he wasn’t tired, he didn’t keep the pace going at the very least. I have no idea if anyone else was game but he slowed to 61s and had a huge kick (54/25.8).
Does anyone have an ID on the spikes Jakob was wearing? I do not recognize that Nike model. Appears to be the same shoes both days. The swoosh does not match the current Victory or Dragonfly. Neither has the tiny swoosh near the big toe either like the ones he had on. From the side view it appears there is one of the Victory air pod things under-foot so I’m guessing this is the next gen Victory?

you know about flying starts, right? 7:21 flying is a 7:22 or 7:23 flat from a crouch.
I hesitate to believe jakob started a WR attempt in 33s for 318m though. 4 flat pace isn't at all ambitious if you're looking to average faster. Prove it.

I’m pretty sure you’re right, that they are a prototype of the next gen victory’s. He said in an instagram story a couple weeks ago that his favorite spikes are “the new victory’s”
From personal experience, anytime I've ran a 1500m, my legs have felt more loose, sharp and warmed up when I've done training sessions the following day. I'm sure the mile didn't hurt his 3,000m, but if anything benefit him. Unless you have a niggle then you should be strong the day after a race that is under 4 or 5 minutes long

From the rumours I've heard, the Victory will be replaced by the Dragonfly Elite. Which will be somewhat of a combo of the current DF and Victory. I assume that's what Jakob is wearing
Kind of a red flag don’t you think? There’s a special medicine that helps with recovery. It’s called EPO.
You have to remember, even if you don't believe the superspikes gives you faster times (or at least fast enough to be worthy talking about), they withouth a doubt save your legs more than the previous generations of spikes. This helps Jakob here, so be careful of comparing to say the original Victories. Anyone who has run in these spikes know they are incredible at saving your legs.
He steepled 8:26 at 16. I don't know whether he can get the 10k+ records, but steeple he would have a great shot at, though he doesn't have a huge advantage in the flat 3k over the current world record holder.
Girma has run 7:23.81 indoor and 7:26.18 outdoor.
Don´t you agree that Jakob´s 2 mile WB indicates a 3000m just under 7:20. So he should at least be 4 seconds faster than Girma when Girma is at his best (opposite Jakob Girma´s performances are variating somewhat through the season).
And I don´t think Girma is very good technically in the steeple. So not a big advantage there.
I think an important factor in El-Bakkali´s dominance over Girma is his technical superiority.
Jakob reportedly now consider himself better in the 10000m than in the 5000m and the other shorter distances.
