Very good points here. This is a transition. I think a lot of people are underselling the impact life influences can have on you when you're young, but it's magnified when success is tied in and the momentum is pointing toward more in the future. But she is getting older and will naturally take on more responsibility for her choices. With the Olympic year coming up, shoe companies calling, and her clearly beyond NCAA competition, I'm sure there's a lot of pressure. We have no idea what's going thru her head right now. I just don't think her leaving HU is some obvious, no-brainer decision for her that some posters are making it out to be, but of course it seems that simple from our POV.

I'm sorry but you cannot be serious. She's a world class talent running for a mid-level NAIA school.
You have it backwards. Wiley BECAME a world class runner running for a mid-level NAIA school. It's possible that she believes if it's not broke then don't try to break it.
YOU might not agree with that way of thinking, but it's not completely illogical for her to want to stick with the same system that made her the fastest 800/1500 college runner in history.

Im not sure her training group in Huntington (the guys team) isn’t better than most pro female groups. Besides the running, I bet the guys are supportive of her doing well without being competitive or bltchy about it.
This is an interesting question; does Wiley train with the mens team at Huntington and that provides a solid mid-d group for her ?
a quick glance at tfrrs shows that last outdoor season they had a 1:58 guy and a 4:01 guy. After that the guys are incredibly slow. But maybe those 2 guys + Wiley are a good training scenario.

Yea, it seems that she is the fastest (man or woman) at Huntington. By quite a margin at 1500m
Is she pro yet? Someone should surely sign her, such a prodigal talent coming from a small school NAIA program.
Trust me, if they make shoes they have made an offer. Everyone is currently figuring out the highest and best offer. Look for an announcement in the next week of a game changing contract. Terms over dollars, but both are there. Huntington, IN will be the new training Mecca!

Sorry to burst your bubble, but having one fast runner in a town does not make it a "Mecca."
I believe she said her coaches are Josh Neideck or Austin Roark. May or may not be the case, but haven’t seen any real evidence yet that it’s not true — just speculation and LR board anonymous rumors. Maybe there’s a journalist who can get some answers.
As Wiley herself said, the ONLY reason that she bailed on Colorado, a top distance school with a top coach, and decided to go to Huntington University was because Wiley wanted to be coached by Lauren Johnson.
So after all that you seriously think Wiley kicked Lauren Johnson to the curb because Wiley decided to be coached by 2 random guys?
And then after being canned by Wiley, Lauren Johnson still goes to all of Wiley's meets and sits in the stands with Wiley's mom? Give me a break. Lauren Johnson is obviously still Wiley's coach.
