I would probably make it 5, in a race situation maybe 50

Back in '85, I did a couple of 20 milers on the track before the NYC Marathon. Did 5 miles in each direction twice, had a walkman with me, and lots to drink. Wasn't as bad as it sounds....
I've done 10,000s on the track, and that is about enough for me. I can't imagine how boring it would be to run 20 on a track.
Running on wooded trails makes those tracks seem pretty boring.
A collegiate prof of mine did 20m... indoors. But, he was whacked.
But, on the other hand, I've done 20 on a treadmill (wishing I was on that 200m track).
One winter in college I decided not to run with the team (personal reasons), I was in great shape. It was a terrible winter and I decided to be a fair weather runner. I did a whole bunch of 10 milers on our indoor track. 5 laps to a mile and boring as hell. Just to relieve boredom, I would keep picking up the pace.
Wore me out by the end of winter. But at least I developed a high tolerance for boredom
Well I hope we all don't pass the "high tolerance for boredom" to our social lives :)
At Penn State I once did 12 miles on an indoor track that was something like 6.75 laps per mile. That was practically made me insane
I did 17 miles (68 laps) on a track at 3:00 in the morning for a charity 12-hour relay. Going around in circles didn't bother me (kind of nice having quarter splits for your long run). The @**holes who parked on the track to load up their tents did. One stupid-@** lady almost ran me over with her truck. That would be me...headline: "Runner killed by truck today...on high-school track!"
I hate track with a passion, but running is my life. This one time me and my dad decide to go and run a 5miler on a track that was like in this dome thingy doring winter. I think I made it to lap 16 and quit. It is so DAMN BORING.
TRACK HATER I AM
In 1993 in a 24 hr relay race (for charity) where
each participate ran for 1 hour, I ran twice-at 11pm I
completed 44 1/2 laps and at 9 am I completed 41 3/4 laps.
I ran the last leg and my team was down 4 laps; however,
I couldn't make it all up and we lost by a little more than
a lap! The charity fund-raiser was very successful! It a shame the race stopped after only one year.
