Young phenoms rarely make it long term. Ping, Cain, and Tuohy are 3 great examples.
Dude, Tuohy is literally a current professional runner. Even if she retired today, I would say she fit the bill of “making it long term”. She became a phenom in middle school, won multiple NXN titles, won NCAA titles, and the only reason she didn’t compete this year was because of an injury. She obviously still has the capacity to compete at a high level. Did you make it to the pros?
I get what you’re saying about phenoms, but it’s not exactly that cut and dry.
But she was the best. People like Coburn, Schweizer, Valby, Frerichs, and Monson were not phenoms. Tuohy was a phenom as you said. She was great through age 21-22.but has faded into obscurity like phenoms do.
But she never made it internationally. Lets agree on that.
If you are that good in college or at an young age you def have high aspirations. Its nothing wrong with not making it big, most dont reach their full potential or anywhere.
at least in her first year out of college. Tell me how many F distance runners do make it internationally in their first year out of college?
Let it go. US teen phenoms rarely make it big. Tuohy is just the most recent one. As far as international runners, most arrived by the age of 20.
it seems to me you are the one who needs to "let it go". But don't let me get in the way of your celebrating her lack of pro success thus far!
Most of the runners you cited were already very good in high school. And the US has this curious tendency to have runners pr in their late 20s. So who can say how it will go.
Stupid statement. I pull for every American runner to do well. Regardless, you clearly.arent a sports' fan outside of Tuohy or you would know that most people cheer for some teams and cheer against other teams and they have favorite players and coaches and unfavorite players and coaches.
So Tuohy was a phenom in middle, high school AND College but did not make it long term? So who tf makes it long term. Is Bekeles 20 year career the minimum to have made it?
Going through Puberty can be a bugger for female runners.
Young phenoms rarely make it as US professionals.
Top pros, Schweizer, Monson, Frerichs, Coburn, ESP, Valby.
Alternatively, Ping, Cain, Effraimson, Lane, Tuohy.

Do you think you’re saying something that we all don’t know?
Not all
This has been debunked over and over.
