I don't think anyone is seriously talking about the USA guys beating Jakob at this point in history. Sorry, that is just not realistic.
But, if the thread is about "does Hocker have what it takes to make the team" then yes, of course, 1:46 is great fitness.
If the thread's thesis is more like "Hocker is the favorite to win USAs because he just ran a 1:46" then I think it is a bit crazy. After all, Hobbs Kessler just ran faster and has a faster SB than Hocker (by a lot).
Plus everyone is acting like Nuguse lost his kick now that he's a better runner. How the hell does that make sense? Last time I checked, he's really our best 1500m runner in terms of facing the top pros this year. He has raced the best and took a ton of scalps. Nuguse is not screwing around in Tennessee and New York and Portland running against 3:38 guys.
