Missed that one because the top girl throwers in the state didn't attend any National meets. It looks like field events had 2 and zero for running events.

In terms of the Team Title races

Boys: Carmel and Noblesville look to be the two favorites. Both are very similar teams with good depth and a singular star low stick with Tony Provenzano and Caden Click. Here is who each return

Carmel

1. Tony Provenzano - SR - 4:15, 8:54, 15:01, 2x State Runner Up to Mathison

2. Jack Capes - JR - 4:28, 9:38, 15:43

3. Thomas Biltimier - SR - 4:22, 9:27, 15:45

4. Kiefer Jay - JR - 4:23, 9:33, 16:08

5. Kyle Grove - SR - 4:44, 9:59, 15:56

6. Max Meisner - SR - 4:30, 9:38, 15:57

There is also a 2 sub 10 Freshman including one who went 4:30 as a Freshman this Spring in Carter Buhr returning for the Hounds.

Noblesville

1. Caden Click - SR - 4:10, 9:22 Indoors, 15:10 on Lavern Gibson, 4th @ 1600 State (2.5 Seconds from winning it)

2. Jack Strong - JR - 4:19, 9:20, 15:34

3. Sam Rinker - SR - 4:35, 9:39, 15:47 on Lavern Gibson

4. Ronnie Neal - JR - 4:24, 9:27, 15:56

5. Alec Moor - SR - 1:56, 4:25, 9:31, 15:53

6. Caden Jackson - JR - 4:37, 9:44, 16:45

There is also 3 Freshman returning for the Millers either sub 4:50 for 1600 or 10:20 for 3200

Both teams have the star power and depth as of now that's above anyone else (pending transfers or potential move ins). I like Carmels chances of having someone really pop off more than Noblesville so I'll give a slight edge to Carmel, although Noblesville has potential to have a nasty top 6 with 2 under 15:20 and a additional 3-4 under 15:45. The one team if they can develop a 4-5 that could be a threat is Zionsville. Zionsville returns 3 stars in Junior Jack Turnbull (4:18, 9:24, 15:45), Senior Evan Mayo (1:56, 4:32, 15:36 on Lavern Gibson), and Senior Sam Spees (4:27, 9:22, 15:38, All State XC Last Fall). They also bring back 2 sub 4:40 1600 - Sub 10 3200 Guys in Bineyard and Dell and a Sub 10 Freshman in Elijah Weaver.

My Top 5 Preseason Teams would be

1. Carmel

2. Noblesville

3. Zionsville

4. Fishers

5. Franklin Central

Individually, again assuming no move ins I see 4 main contenders and 2-3 fringe contenders meaning a jump puts them in the conversation

In no Order Here are the 4

1. Cameron Todd - SR - Brebeuf Jesuit - 4:08, 8:52, 14:57 on Lavern Gibson, 1600 Runner up, Top Returner at Foot Locker

2. Martin Barco - SR - Martinsville - 1:51, 4:07, 8:57, 15:44, 1600 State Champion

3. Tony Provenzano - SR - Carmel - 4:15, 8:54, 15:01, 2x State Runner Up

4. Will Conway - SR (Tennessee Commit) - Floyd Central - 4:05, 8:56, 15:06, 2x 4th Place Finisher at 3200 Meters

If Barco is in it on the Straightaway I bet he wins. Only person who can maybe challenge his close is Todd. But I could see any of the 4 win. All 4 are pretty safe top 5 picks for me assuming everyone stays healthy. The only race I can see all 4 race each other before state is the Brown County meet in early/mid September that will also include Rheam in the field.

The 3 fringe contenders to me are

1. Caden Click - SR - Noblesville - 4:10, 9:22 Indoors, 15:10 on Lavern Gibson, 4th @ 1600 State

2. Ryan Rheam - SR - Bloomington South - 4:21, 9:03, 15:27, 3rd @ State 3200

3. Sam Quagliaroli - JR - Fishers - 4:16, 9:06, 15:26, 6th @ State 3200

I see all 3 of these guys potentially getting top 5 on a good day, all 3 are safe top 10 picks for me

Other Names to Watch:

1. Matthew Kim - SR - Fishers - 1:52, 4:11, 16:13, 4th @ State 800

2. Shane Conroy - JR - Portage - 4:23, 9:06, 16:02, 7th @ State 3200

3. Max Malloy - JR - Elkhart - 4:15, 9:12, 16:06, 9th @ State 1600

4. Liam Bauschke - JR - Mishawaka - 4:23, 9:18, 15:20, 9th @ State XC Last Fall

5. Jackson Nolan - JR - Evansville FJ Reitz - 4:26, 9:29, 15:28, XC All State Last Fall

6. Noah Bontrager - SO - Westview - 4:28, 9:33, 15:20, XC All State Last Fall

7. Weston Hulen - SR - Crown Point - 1:54, 4:22, 9:53, 16:20, 9th @ State 800

8. Caleb Winders - SO - Bloomington North - 1:52, 4:22, 17:17 on Lavern Gibson, State Runner Up @ 800 State

Not sold on Hulen and Winders on grass yet. But I think the other 6 names are favorites to land top 10-15 at State. Feel free to mention any other names that I missed.

Any thoughts on how Columbus North will look?
Last year they reloaded quite well. In 2022 they took 4th after taking 3rd in 2021 and losing most of their varsity.
Will they reload again?

Going projected to be a down year on the guys side. Last year they still has Mendez, Guthrie and Russell who were all good as juniors so they were at minimum a preseason top 8 team. I wasn't terribly shocked they podiumed with their roster.

They have a good frontrunner and potential All State guy in Junior Neal White who went 15:41 and 9:24 on the track as a Sophomore. They have no returners under 16:30 besides White. With the way CN develops they will be a state meet team, but going to need probably around at least 2 other guys to really pop off to make a run a top 10 team on late October.

They do return 9:24, 9:47, 9:59, 10:00, and 10:05. (The 9:24 and 10:05 guys were varsity last year)
I’d say this is a good start for this team

Carmel will be Carmel because they are 1000x as big as any other school in the state. Schools around Indy will do the same.

Columbus North will continue to keep the PAAVO flame alive.

Part of the reason Carmel doesn't have a conference. Nobody wanted them due to being almost twice the size of the 2nd biggest school.

Noblesville will win state for girls again.

Yea and they have a history of winning EVERYTHING. They have 187 championships and 77 runner-ups in 20 sports.

5. Fishers 906, 933, 947 (Kim did not have a 3200 result this year though)

Caden Click went 9:22 for 3200 Indoors at HSR.

So it would be 9:20, 9:22, 9:27, 9:31, 9:39, 9:44 for Noblesvilles 3200 times

Don't you all have Indiana Runner that the 3 people that are on the site can post about Indiana track and XC. No one cares about the rich white xc schools in Indiana.
