She made a good chunk of money from summer 2015 until 2021. A healthy base contract, plus a good amount of prize money and some american record bonus money and other bonus money over the handful of years.

Cheating works, especially if you don't get sloppy and get caught.
Houlihan USADA testing history (includes in- and out-of-competition but not AIU tests) .... 2014: 0; 2015: 0; 2016: 2; 2017: 3; 2018: 10; 2019: 22 (!); 2020: 28 (!!); 2021: 15; 2022: 16; 2023: 4 (until May 25).
History: joined BTC in 2015, 1st AR in 2018, popped in 2020 by AIU (note USADA: "testing activity was also temporarily reduced from March – August 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.") Looks like USADA went after her since 2019 but could never nab her.
Frerichs for comparison: .... 2014: 0; 2015: 1; 2016: 1; 2017: 5; 2018: 10; 2019: 14; 2020: 11; 2021: 12; 2022: 6; 2023: 1 (until May 25). History: joined BTC in 2016, 1st AR in 2018, ...
Apparently setting ARs and being with BTC is no reason to get that many tests.

You could have underlying numbers that are "within range" but elevated compared to past tests. Clearly USADA were seeing something that made them more suspicious of one not the other. Especially considering Frerichs won world silver in 2017.

Like the good old "likely doping" or "passport suspicious", or also too many missed tests like 2 in 2018 and 2 in 2019.
It's kind of crazy to see how much she's saved up, and I think it begs the legitimate question of how on earth is she funding this.
Sure she made a lot of money--but it's not A-Rod money. It's been two years that she's allegedly been off Nike's payroll
with the legal fees from all the courts (her gofundme failed) that were apparently 250-300K, she hasn't been working at all. She was training full time by bumping into BTC, and she's been going on altitude trips for weeks. Her latest post noted she was also back in school.

This is pretty crazy. Seeing this really makes me think USADA was suspicious of her.
Courtney had both the world silver AND the American record (9 flat I think) by 2018. Her improvement was astronomical. Yet USADA didn't seem as concerned. They were really concerned about something they saw with Shelby.

I still think Frerichs is legit — got into the sport relatively late, is in a weaker event.
I think Shelby overdid whatever grey area stuff BTC was into, and the women are doing poorly now bc, even if they weren’t doing, they chased around a doper in practice. Plus, maybe being scared now so they don’t even do the gray area stuff.
Oh, and Shelby still getting money from somewhere. She doesn’t even seem to be trying to get a job.
The audacity she has to have asked the running community for money while she’s getting paid under the table. She’s probably training with btc in Utah right now.
she’s moving from Portland where she’ll land in flagstaff and all the athletes there will have to avoid her constantly.

Here is my theory: Shelby learned how to do some gray area stuff from Centro while they were dating. Maybe he took it up from Salazar or his dad, idk. She got caught and they separated so Centro would be less associated with her. Centro also got scared away from doing whatever he was doing as a result, and now he is a lot slower.
No real evidence to back this up but hey this is Letsrun after all. Also I don't think Jerry is running a larger doping scheme with BTC, but I do think he's a bad coach for many reasons:
1. not knowing what nandrolone is. It's part of your job as an elite coach to be well versed in banned substances, so that you can help your athletes avoid exposure to them in supplements, etc.
2. Spreading himself too thin between college athletes and pros.
3. Being seemingly apathetic, inflexible, and overly controlling with his athletes with regards to racing.
4. Similar to #3, having a one-size fits all training scheme that ignores athletes' specific needs and causes the non-superstars/different body types to get injured or burnt out.
All of those reasons^ are however founded on evidence, mainly from interviews with current and former BTC athletes and Jerry himself.
