This is it folks. You have seen peak Jakob. He may maintain for a few years but you have seen the best of him. No shame in that either as he is great. He is great for the sport. But he has stopped improving. No surprise there of course.

Because he started so early he reached his peak early. Now he is stuck on a plateau while the young Americans are improving and closing the gap fast. Haven't read through the whole thread, but the title is pretty much accurate. Jakob is the best 1500/5000 runner in the world, but his performances have indeed plateaued in the last few years. He's still the favorite for Paris, and back to back Olympic golds would be an incredible career. There's just no reason to think he has another breakthrough at this point, and that upsets the white supremacists on this board who convinced themselves he'd get the world record. He can certainly get under 12:45 with good pacing, and maybe he's capable of 3:27 high if he gets a perfect race in Monaco, but we're absolutely seeing his peak now.
