this is letsrun, you can’t just say that and not give the story
The story I heard is he was in downtown Newbury Park getting ice cream when he noticed he was being followed by an 11 foot tall dude in a trenchcoat. He ducked in and out of a couple of stores and thought he lost him when he heard from close behind "do it Leo" and where the guy's junk should have been a baseball bat appeared and he took a hit to the knee.
Aaron went down and when he looked up he just saw an empty trench and 2 kids running away at 4:01 pace.
How the hell did he get injured like that? Not just an overuse injury.
He hurt it at Track Night NYC on Friday night. He had a huge kick and just missed winning the 800 meters. Immediately afterwards he was gingerly walking around holding what looked like his hamstring.
Most broad spectrum antibiotics reduce tendon compliance and increase the risk of tendon tearing or rupture during loading (running/jumping, etc.)
Especially Cipro. That said, a normal round of Cipro does not appreciably increase the risk of tendon rupture and is usually innocuous. Multiple courses or a longer course increase the risk a lot more.
He still had a great high school career. NXN + 1:48.9/4:01/8:03 as a junior. He just pushed the speed too hard this season. He would have been better off coming at his natural distances, crushing his pr's, and then dropping down to the 800m off of strength and much more limited speedwork. At NAU, he just needs to listen to Mike Smith and his older brother and he will be great in time. The kid's headstrong but very talented. Rein that in a bit and you will get something really special down the road.

This is why I still come to this site
Then, still shocked at seeing the trench on the ground, he saw a beige 2003 Suburban drive by, a bunch of kids in the back waving ice cream cones at him (But they didn't look the same as the ones he just was eating; they looked different and had the word ANDY'S on them?), a green-and-blue D sticker on the rear Dutch door tailgate, a woman with black, curly hair in the passenger seat and a little skinny guy at the wheel with a big smile, a headlamp perched atop his head. On the dashboard lay many pairs of shoes.
And then it all made sense.

From my recalling of Running with the Buffaloes, your post came to mind. I think it was either Batliner or Goucher who was talented but headstrong and got hurt. Your great post just made me think of that book.

…typically for people over age 70. Not an 18yo hs’er.
