What Did Arthur Lydiard Mean by the Term "Footing"?
Is "Footing" a progressive increase in pace over a single run (negative splits)?
Or is it the repetition of the exact same workout and progressing it faster across time?

I've read many of his books, been to maybe five clinics he did, had a fair few beers with him over the years, did a fairly lengthy road trip with him, and I never once heard him use that word unless it was with an adjective describing it.
