FAYETTEVILLE -- As the NCAA champion in the decathlon last year who finished fourth at the World Championships, University of Arkansas senior Ayden Owens-Delerme showed he can excel in 10 events.

This reminds me of that other decathlon guy who found his talent in the 400H.
Can't remember his name atm.
Austin West, a decathlete, won the B10 400h in 49 seconds.
More points to throw on the pile at NCAA meet for the Hogs when they take home another gold trophy.
West was a state champion 400 LH before becoming a decathlete. He had no pole vault or javelin opportunities in hs so that doesnt help but he's still working around that the best he can as one of the top NCAA decathletes. Not afraid to work that 1500 to make up a few points there as well.
Awesome! All decathletes have a few events they either barely learned or never even attempted in HS. The 400 mh is such a gutsy event, I’m not surprised a 400 mh high schooler added the other events and became a decathlete.
What Olympic decathlon champion was also number one ranked in another event?

and... hes entered in it for NCAAs. Is he actually doing the double? Maybe he will get bronze at WCs in dec like a certain other heptathlete who did something similar last year.
His only races have been 50, 49, and 48low. DAYUMMMM.
Warholm also came from multis.
This guy even looks like an anime hero.
Wexford, PA! Pittsburgh forever, baby.
It is truly amazing that he was able to avoid the amazing pull of football growing up there but as track fans we’re all better off for it.
