Female students belonging to a sorority at the University of Wyoming have expressed concerns about the potential admission of a transgender woman to their Chapter.
Members of the University of Pennsylvania women’s swim team are uncomfortable changing in the locker room with transgender athlete Lia Thomas, according to a teammate.
Doxxing? YOU mentioned your daughter so like everyone else calling for the OP to name their daughter why don’t you have to do them same? unless you condemned that and I missed it.
Thank you for another laundry list of mansplaining. I am a WOC and I don’t need an old white dude to lecture me about the spaces my brown daughters occupy. Being the wise old man you are your refusal to occupy space for other minorities is clear. You are what we are fighting! WHITE OLD MEN lecturing women on what is best for them. Sorry I’m not going to let you tell my brown daughters what is best for them.
Have a blessed day.
Wow, now you throwing race into it?
Why’s that??
Guess what, my daughters are BIPOC too….and in my house, they lecture me, not the other way around.
I found this piece that has helped inform my sentiments on the topic. It’s written by women, so they can “womensplain” it to you….
This Friday, the 19th October, the Government's consultation on a proposed reform of the Gender Recognition Act (GRA) will close. The process has become a focal point for a heated and often toxic debate over what we as a soci...
“My feminism is trans inclusive. It is welcoming of trans people and the increasing number of non-binary young people who are making us interrogate the gender binary and all the inequalities that it has caused. I do not expect to change the minds of gender critical feminists with this essay. Yet, we can unite on the battles that need to be fought and not fixate on trans people and trans women when a structure of patriarchy is what we should be uniting against. Let’s move beyond single-issue feminism and not allow anti-feminist conservative and far right forces to exploit trans and non-binary people to divide our movement when there is so much work to do. Below are a series of pledges that I believe all feminists can and should unite on.
We pledge to fight for: The right to birth control and abortion Equal pay and a reduction in the gender pay gap Affordable childcare The rights of women all over the world The right to material security (employment, housing, food, healthcare, energy, clean water, clothes) Children’s right to be free from discrimination, bullying and harassment The right to education for all We pledge to fight against: Femicide and rape culture Violence against all women Violence against LGBTQ people Toxic masculinity Sexual harassment in the workplace Everyday sexism Enforced gender stereotypes Racism Environmental destruction Bullying and harassment”

Well, I’m also technically “BIPOC” (even though that just means black, for all intents and purposes) and think it’s idiotic. you should respect my lived experience over your own white one.
Anyway, I strongly doubt that your daughter was happy over losing to a male but she just didn’t display her anger publicly.
British cycling is creating and open category that transgender women will be required to compete in. This seems like a logical solution in all of sports.

You may not agree with me (it’s not up to me anyway) and I’m sure you don’t, but I think HS athletics is primarily an educational undertaking rather than a competitive one, and erring on the side of inclusion often trumps fairness, especially when there’s no safety issue involved and the adverse impact of having a trans athlete in the competition is modest if not zero on the other athletes.
Let me turn this argument around and ask what the "benefit" of HS sports is.
The ACLU lawyer argues that the presence of trans athletes does not negate the rights of cis athletes to "participate." Winning awards in sports is not part of the "benefit" guaranteed in Title IX protection. Can we make the same argument about the "participation" of trans athletes? They should be allowed to compete, but being eligible for any award is NOT part of the benefit guaranteed in Title IX, according to that argument.
Or how about limiting the participation of trans athletes to JV and below? They can still "participate" right? They can get all the "benefits" of HS sports like learning self-discipline, resilience and working with others. So what benefit is denied if they are not eligible for any award?
In cases where an athlete transfers schools from out of the country the student is ineligible for varsity competition for a whole calendar year. These athletes are allowed to compete in JV and frosh soph competitions however. So they are included in sports despite being ineligible for varsity competition.
This would seem to me a reasonable compromise for transgender athletes. They can compete in JV sports but not varsity. They would get the benefit of participation without taking away pop for competitive female athletics.
thoughts?
I like this, but what do you do with sports / schools that only have varsity teams?

Seems odd to me. These athletes are too strong for varsity competition. So instead place them in junior varsity competition?
the governor of CA, the CA state legislature, the CA attorney general, our senators, many of our congressional delegation, our former senator and now VP, the CIF, the University of California, the major LGBT organizations in CA, the mayors of LA and SF, the SF board of supervisors, the editorial board of the SF chronicle and LA Times, etc etc have reached the conclusions that access and accommodation should be made in some/many of the specific areas you reference after deliberating on these issues.
On a personal level, most (I won’t say all) of the women I know reject the idea that allowing the Athena Ryans of the world into their races or spaces compromises their “safety, privacy, dignity, comfort, hygiene, peace of mind and convenience in the places we use outside our homes that were established and designed to suit and accommodate our bodies and our needs.” Maybe they should, but they just don’t. The men of LRC are near 100% in agreement with you. Many of the young women of CA and probably most of the LGB people of the state, and our leaders, not nearly as much.
Just found out there's been another big victory in California's state-sanctioned war on girls' and women's sports for all the smug fauxgressives in the Golden State to chortle and crow about. In March, a trans-identifed male HS sophomore was crowned girls' state champion in alpine skiing.
June Watterson, who goes by she/her pronouns, ranked number one in the High School State Champions women's slalom race at the California-Nevada Interscholastic Ski & Snowboard Federation (CNISSF) state finals for ski athletes.
Watterson, who is currently a sophomore at Davis Senior High School, took first place in the women's heat on March 6 with a combined result of 1:08.29 - beating Carlie Chandler, who came second, by 17 seconds.
A trans woman has been crowned state champion in a California-Nevada high school ski race - prompting the father of one of her competitors to say boys shouldn't compete against girls.
I eagerly await your next finger-wagging lecture from on high scolding me and other women here for scoffing at your contention that if we were legit, bona fide feminists, we wouldn't be banging on about the rights and interests of female people - instead we'd be focusing on prioritizing, centering, celebrating, championing and advancing the interests of all the entitled, grabby, pushy male interlopers and colonizers you in your wisdom think should be given free rein to trample over and take away women's and girls' hard-won rights, provisions and protections.

RunRagged, all of the finger wagging has been coming from you and a handful of others attempting to speak on behalf of the cisgender girls in the race without any knowledge of how they feel about transgirls participating in the race. Wise Old Man is one of the only people on this thread who actually has knowledge of how the girls in CA who are competing against Athena Ryan actually feel about the issue. Then when he shares the fact that many of the girls in the race are supportive of transwomen and that his opinion on trans issues has been shaped in part by women and contemporary trans-inclusive feminism, you accuse him of misogyny, finger wagging, lecturing and scolding, which is exactly what you do on post after post towards anyone whose opinion regarding trans related issues/policies differs from yours.

A 17 second win in a race with a winning time of 1:08? This story seems a little wacky, but of course, it is the DailyMail.

Actually, it is 0.17 second. See the link to the article.

Thank you. I appreciate your support. I’m just back from a long run with my children. We discussed all of this in detail and once again they assured me that the large majority of their peers, like those racing Athena today, and those on their current accomplished college team are trans inclusive feminists, and not trans exclusive feminists when it comes to the issues being discussed. They categorically reject RR’s world view and her tone on this topic. For all the haters out there, no my children did not qualify for NCAA regionals/nationals this year, but maybe next year…..and yes they take the sport seriously AND they welcome Athena to race them any time.
Except is happens all the time, most notably with international athletes competing in another country's national championships.
I know it is waste of time to offer any compromise, because people on both sides are determined to prove their moral superiority.
Why is not a compromise to allow trans participation at the level of HS sports, but to adopt WA rules at the college level and beyond? HS sports, even varsity, are far more about education, sportsmanship, camaraderie, team work etc then they are about golds and championships. HS sports are firmly embedded under the framework of the school experience. In the school setting, inclusion should be paramount. In T&F at least there are no safety issues and since the bans/restrictions are in place at the college level, there’s no lack of access to scholarships and those sorts of benefits. The extreme position would be unrestricted trans athlete access at the WA level. HS age people competing at WA events, like world juniors etc, would be governed by WA rules.
