Then why is it that, for the 5000 at least, pretty much every single "q" qualifier comes from the second heat? It's straight up not fair to the non-cream of the crop runners in the first heat to have to either stick with the pack and hope they run reasonably fast, or just be the sacrificial lamb trying to run a good time while the rest of the field drafts off of you then blows you away. No matter what the "q" time is going to be doable in the second heat unless it was truly an absurd talent mismatch between the heats. This was a needed change.
